Margaret Hadfield
“‘It is only paint, loosen up’ are just two of the sayings my students now throw back to me. We have a laugh and enjoy our time painting together. They learn from me, and I learn from them. It is magical to know that I empower them to get in touch with their creative flair and enjoy the simple pleasure of expression through painting."
Caroline Jeppesen
"Now more than ever, people are wanting to spend time on activities that nourish their mind and tap into a creative side. Art is a truly human endeavour; it brings people together, encourages connection, and brings joy."
Dee Hopkins
Dee is a graduate of CIT’s Diploma of Visual Arts. She is a contemporary, experimental artist with a keen interest in abstract and impressionism. She works from her art studio – Allambee Art Studio and Little Gallery in Jerrabomberra. In her workshop, Discover the magic of Gel Printing, she will give an introduction to gel plate, how to apply stencils, organic materials, registration tricks and more to create stunning multi layered artwork. Each participant will create at least one work to bring home and frame.
Yasmin Idriss
Yasmin is an artist and photographer based in the Canberra region. Her Yazelations reflect a deep commitment to sustainability and a belief in the transformative power of art. Each piece is meticulously crafted from repurposed framing waste, reimagined into intricate and visually compelling works that reveal unexpected beauty within everyday rubble. Through this body of work, Yasmin seeks to inspire environmental awareness while celebrating the creative potential of recycling industrial materials.
Kiran Mehta
Kiran's art embodies a tapestry of colours, emotions, and resilience. Kiran's art exudes a contemporary impressionistic flair, drawing inspiration from the breathtaking vistas of Australia's landscapes. Infused with texture, organic marks, and poignant affirmations, each piece is a testament to her reverence for nature's beauty. Through luminous colours and expressive brushstrokes, Kiran invites viewers on a spiritual journey, enveloping them in the same joy and warmth she experiences in each stroke of the brush. Kiran is also the founder of Kin & Hue. Kin & Hue is a shared creative space where art becomes a way to connect—with yourself and with others. Rooted in collaboration, it brings people together to create side by side, where every mark, colour, and idea contributes to something larger than any one individual.
Michelle Turner
My art is characterised by intricate detail and vivid colours. I also take great interest in depicting animals, landscapes, and plants. Capturing expression in animals and rendering fine detail in all subjects is central to my practice.
After 26 years working as a Registered Nurse both as a civilian and with the Air Force, I returned to art after medically retiring from the Air Force. This transition allowed me to embrace the therapeutic benefits of creative pursuits, fostering relaxation, improved mood, and enhanced concentration within what I describe as the “art zone.” My formal art studies span five and a half years in Washington DC and Australia, and I have experience teaching ink house drawing classes.
Dipa Mahbuba Yasmin
Dipa is a visual artist, curator, and queer community organizer from Bangladesh and the Founder & Creative Director of Epiphania Visuals. Her practice focuses on queer storytelling, community arts, collective care, and creative resistance through participatory art projects. Through accessible puppet-making techniques using recycled and mixed-media materials, participants will transform personal narratives into colorful, symbolic characters. The workshop combines visual arts, storytelling, and collective creativity to celebrate Pride while fostering belonging, self-expression, and community connection.
Jenny Adams - Popcorn Art
I am a local Canberra artist and I have been exhibiting in Canberra as part of a group (the Tin Shed Art Group) for more than 12 years in galleries such as M16, ANCA and Belconnen Arts Centre. I recently held a solo exhibition at the Generator Gallery at the Belconnen Arts Centre - my first solo in over 10 years! I love painting with bright colours and not following any rules - just in a spirit of creativity.
Angharad Dean
Angharad Dean is an Australian landscape artist working in mixed media to explore connections with the kosmos and to visually capture the flow of time. She has been developing and evolving her artistic practice for over 20 years. Since 2021 she has been employed as Artist in Residence at the University of Tübingen in Germany. She has also retained her connection to, and her 'place' in Canberra, including her studio, and spends part of each year working from her Australian home.
Catherin Bennett
Catherin Bennett is a Sydney-based multidisciplinary artist whose practice explores the unconscious through surreal, symbolic, and evolving forms. Drawing on surrealist traditions, dream imagery, esoteric knowledge, and Rorschach-inspired processes, her works emerge through intuition, chance, and material transformation. Forms shift between recognition and ambiguity, inviting personal interpretation and sustained engagement. Working across figurative, abstract, and mixed-media approaches, Bennett creates works that blur the boundaries between the seen and unseen.
