  • 5/5 from Patty Panagiotopoulos, attended Jun 2026: Teacher was great. Very informative session. Hopefully I'll continue making sourdough bread and become good at it! A pen, note paper and an apron should be on the list of items to bring. Also, water and snacks, as the sample bread and fruit loaf were not shared until a half an hour before the 4 hour session finished. Overall, a great workshop run by an experienced bread maker.
  • 5/5 from Tina Bode, attended Feb 2026: So easy to book. Lovely Christmas gift experience with my son. Beautiful bread and lots of lessons learned. Great participants. Steve was incredibly informative. Look forward to more baking experiences!

Having the option to cancel and re book if in case something came up & you can't attend gives you a peace of mind that you could stil do the course.
  • 5/5 from Natasha Bissett, attended Oct 2025: Great class. Steve is easy going and very knowledgeable- he’s tried it, failed or succeeded and use the class to pass on his findings and knowledge of the process. It would be great though if ClassBento could list everything that is required for the day ie: things that are mandatory or just suggested, like a wooden spoon, a measuring jug, hairnets etc. I love that we got some leftover starter, great for those who don’t already have one! I’m keen to do some other courses with Steve - bagels, pretzels etc.

Our teacher, Steve, was incredibly knowledgeable, and it was clear he had a real passion for sourdough breadmaking. At first, I wasn’t sure if I was doing everything right with the sourdough mixture, but when I baked the bread the next day, it turned out amazing! I learned so much throughout the session and wouldn’t hesitate to join another breadmaking class in the future. Thanks for a great experience!

Extremely nice guy with excellent information and helpful tips as was also able to supply the class with the necessary tools. His finished loaves were delicious! Can't wait to try his recipes for ourselves We would highly recommend this class to anyone wanting to learn about the sourdough making process with extensive, easy to understand notes to bring home along with a ready to bake loaf. 10/10 Steve!
  • 5/5 from Fiona Adamson, attended Aug 2024: Steve had an excellent knowledge of sourdough bread making. Very informative and a great resource.
  • 5/5 from Nigel Myers, attended Jul 2024: I learnt a lot about the basics of sourdough. All aspects were covered from making the starter through to the different bread types and baking.
  • 5/5 from Anup Raghavan, attended Jul 2024: Passionate instructor with friendly personality. Good location and great oveview course. Could have 2/3 refresher courses as an optional for students as it takes more than one session to get hang of various techniques. I thought my first loaf was a terrible failure as it was over proofed. Steve helped me through this process and we managed to get to bake the bread finally.
  • 5/5 from Karen Denton, attended Apr 2024: Teacher was fantastic and knowledgeable. It was a birthday present and thoroughly enjoyed it. Found out it is quite a process to make sourdough!
  • 5/5 from Liesl Mentz, attended Apr 2024: I thoroughly enjoyed the class on sour dough bread making. Learnt the principals of how it works and was pleasantly surprised that thanks to Steve’s simple technique it now seems really reproducible at home.
  • 5/5 from Denise Picton, attended Feb 2024: STeve's sourdough bread making course was marvellous. He is funny, warm, knowledgeable, approachable, supportive, and encouraging. The proof of his expertise was the quality of loaf we baked the next morning. I will definitely attend his advanced courses once I have the basics under my belt. I'd recommend his class to anyone (and as an ex MBA lecturer at Adelaide University Graduate School, I don't praise facilitators easily!)
  • 5/5 from Sharleen Pereira, attended Nov 2023: Wonderful very detailed class. Lots of notes and great teacher. Found the process easy to follow and health & safety was respected. My bread turned out amazing! Thank you so much.
  • 4/5 from Mady Nelissen, attended Oct 2023: - The teacher was good, explaining everything well, engaging students as much as was possible. - Necessary facilities and equipment were available. - all baking ingredients were supplied for each student and ready to use. - A display monitor would be helpful to see and show clearly what the teacher was doing, especially for people in the back of the room. - 4 hours is, in my opinion, not enough to cover the material of the course. It was a bit rushed and there was no break. -To get value for the cost, I believe this course needs 5 hours.
  • 5/5 from Sonya, attended Sep 2023: Steve was an excellent teacher, managed the class particularly well and was truly great at teaching sourdough making. With his generosity and enthusiasm the class was thoroughly enjoyable plus I learned a new skill. Thanks Steve.
  • 5/5 from Jasmine Valadian, attended Sep 2023: Steve was a great teacher and gave us lots of tips on how to make different types of bread. There were baking tools we could buy if we didn't have them, which was useful and how to use them. The instructions were clear and we all received a comprehensive set of class notes. The bonus was we got a sourdough starter to take home that we can use, and how to feed it so it is ready for use when you want to make bread. It was a fun night and we got to sample a couple of examples of bread, including a fruit loaf that were made during the class. I highly recommend anyone wanting to start on a bread making journey. I look forward to doing Steve's next class in December.
