Working from Reference
We start by printing a black and white photo that you've either provided, or taken on the night. You'll trade photos with your partner so you'll be drawing each other.
Under Construction
Using light weight construction lines, we'll sketch in the basics. These lines are to give us guidance as we start to fill in detail later. I'll teach you a little about the key anatomy and angles that we'll need to watch out for.
Guidlines
You can use the grid transparency to check your basic shapes. If you need a bit of extra support, we can even trace key structures onto the transparency with a whiteboard marker. Making it easier for you to assess if you've got everything in the right spot.
Building Details
Once you're happy with the basic form we can start introducing detail. Building depth with shading and adding the basic features.
It's important at this step not to get too engrossed in one feature. Its very easy to draw the perfect pair of lips, in the wrong spot! Work holistically, building up the entire image helps make sure everything stays where it should!
Finishing Steps
Now is the time for detail, be confident in your mark marking knowing that you've got the basics right. Add depth and highlights as needed to bring your image to life.
