  • 5/5 from Janine Abbott, attended Aug 2026: Wendy is s great knitting teacher and very patient!
  • 5/5 from Janine Cann, attended Aug 2026: Loved the class. Wendy was so patient and helpful. No experience with knitting was required in order to do the class as Wendy does help each participant with step-by-step instructions. I went in not having knitted for over 45 years and walked away at the end of the class with a lovely, soft, lap blanket in my choice of colour that I made myself!!! Recommended.
  • 5/5 from Ashlee McKenna, attended Jul 2026: This was a lovely introduction to knitting for a complete beginner. The class had a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, and everyone was friendly and supportive. I chose to make a small lap blanket and was able to finish it during the class, so I left with a completed project that I'm looking forward to using. It was an enjoyable afternoon and a great first step into knitting.
  • 5/5 from Ashleigh Birch, attended Jul 2026: Wendy was incredible! Such a passionate and patient lady with a beautiful tranquil setting to teach amazing skills to learn to knit a gorgeous throw. Her wool and tools are hand sourced and it shows the passion she has for the craft. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
  • 5/5 from Dianne Norris, attended Jul 2026: We really enjoyed our class with Wendy. She was a very patient teacher. The wool is so incredibly soft and the colours are stunning. Would definitely recommend to others.
  • 5/5 from Chantal Parsons, attended Jul 2026: Really enjoyed this workshop. Wendy is a great teacher and you feel supported the whole time. With very very limited knitting experience I now feel I could make many blankets after this 3 hr workshop.
  • 5/5 from Amy Hudson, attended Jul 2026: Wendy was the most patient, relaxed, helpful and accommodating teacher. Highly recommended!
  • 5/5 from Suzi Anderson, attended Jul 2026: Lovely afternoon activity. Teacher was very patient and generous with her help and time. As i had no prior experience knitting i did find it very challenging. Wendy suggested a different technique which helped me overcome the difficulty and before the session was over i was confidently creating a beautiful blanket which i finished off at home. Yummy tea and cake too!

  • 5/5 from Heather Rowe, attended Mar 2025: Great workshop. Easy to pick up and I finished the medium sized rug in the evening. Wendy is very patient and explains the techniques clearly. Good fun afternoon.
  • 5/5 from Madeleine Loh, attended Mar 2025: It was a cosy atmosphere with music playing in the background. There were four other attendees and Wendy provided 1:1 attention to each of us as we all had varying levels of experience. I had none and needed a little more guidance. Afternoon tea/coffee and blueberry yogurt cake was served as well. Wendy is an absolute hoot by letting us go over an hour extra. I left with a branded "It's Pretty Knotted" tote (big enough to hold the half made blanket and wool) along with the knitting sticks. The bonus is also being able to meet her cats for pats! They were the absolute sweetest. What a great way to end the day. Thank you so much, Wendy. I'll have to share my finished blanket later.
  • 5/5 from Allison Bailey, attended Feb 2025: Very enjoyable 3 hours spent giant knitting. A pleasant location and a comfortable setting to relax and knit. You will be given the first 1kg of VERY nice fine merino wool along with well made smooth wooden tipped giant circular needles to keep. Depending on the size of the throw you wish to make you can also buy the remaining amount of wool needed in the one continuous ball in the class (or later). Wendy was a great teacher and I would recommend this class for both complete beginners and long-term knitters.

It's Pretty Knotted
It's Pretty Knotted

4.9 (147)

It's Pretty Knotted is a local Western Australian brand crafting artisanal extreme knitted home decor and wares using only 100 per cent premium 18-micron superfine Australian Merino wool.
Our pieces are 'labours of love' and we are passionate about every item that we create and all products are individually hand-knitted to produce exquisite unique wares.
We place an emphasis on our superior quality wares and only knit with 18 microns (fibre width) which is super fine premium material with a baby soft texture. Other extreme knitters typically use 23-microns wool that is of inferior quality and makes for products that have a coarser texture that is not so dreamy and soft to touch.
As a creative artist, founder Wendy McClelland has always been captivated and inspired by the arrays of colours and textures that exist amongst textiles and have worked with them for most of her life.
She first got a taste for spinning and knitting in the early 80s when one of the craft’s founders in Western Australia - Mrs De La Hunty, shared her skills and passion for working with wool. Wendy was a young and eager apprentice living on the coastal town Albany, and she was a 91-year-old teacher who never let her near blindness and stiff wizened fingers get in the way of her expert use of the spinning wheel.
Many years later, Wendy discovered the beautiful Merino woollen tops that she now works with. She loves the feeling and texture of the product and the beautiful yarn that it produces, plus it is so soft and turns the notion that wool is itchy and uncomfortable completely on its head. Merino fibres are so much finer and softer than other standard wools.
As a next to skin layer, Merino wool is hard to beat. Another feature of Merino wool which is wonderful is that it has a natural oft that traps heat very efficiently between the fibres, making it warmer than a synthetic of the same weight. It is such an amazing product that she feels passionate about and is the foundation of It's Pretty Knotted's products.
