If you're a creative enthusiast that loves to try new art forms then this glass fused course is for you.
This boiled glass course in Perth aims to introduce participants to the art of creating unique glassware through the intriguing process of boiling glass.
In this hands-on class, participants will learn essential skills and knowledge to explore the creative possibilities of working with boiled glass.
The workshop will be conducted over two days, estimating about 9 hours in total.
On the first day over a warm cuppa Silvana will explain the idea behind boiled glass and show examples. Then into the studio, you will design your own pieces, pick out the glass and cut to your design. You will then clean your glass and assemble it into the kiln. The basic firing schedule will be discussed.
What you'll learn:
  • Glass under hot firing
  • Colour combinations and reactions
  • Boiling glass basics
  • Slumping onto a mould
  • Basic firing schedule
Following the firing you will come back for half a day to decide what you want to do with your glass. If you have completed my cold working workshop, then you can use the cold working equipment. If not, you can use hand tools to prepare your glass for slumping using available moulds. I will show you how to prepare moulds.

Although my journey with glass started with lead lighting 30 years ago, I learned to make fused glass in 2009. Without boundaries, I found it the perfect medium to explore and develop my creative skills.
Glass is a fascinating medium, and I am constantly learning, experimenting and developing new methods to create new pieces that reflect my story and environment.
Building my new studio in the hills has allowed me to share my passion for glass with others through a series of courses and workshops.
