We had the freedom to do whatever kind of image we wanted, but she also provided prints from past students (given with permission) if we felt stuck. The space is lovely and there was a sweet doggo who was happy for pats. I’m looking forward to taking another class there!

  • 4/5 from Georgia Budden, attended Feb 2024: Really happy with the outcome of my artwork and the tips the teacher gave for a perfect final print, although I feel calling it a Japanese class was a bit of a stretch, as I was excited to hear more about the cultural significance and background of this type of art, and given examples of Japanese-type designs. Overall the venue and experience was nice, and I'd do more classes here!
  • 5/5 from Vanessa Tocatjian, attended Dec 2023: The instructor was super talented and patient and I learned so much in this workshop! I’m hooked, will certainly book with this studio again!
  • 5/5 from Ben Hudson, attended Dec 2023: Great class we had a lot of fun! Lots of laughs and the artwork you take home is amazing!
  • 4/5 from Annik de Dios, attended Dec 2023: Very friendly and welcoming teacher. Class was well organised- all tools were set up and there was plenty of space for people to work in. Would have loved some actual ideas to have been discussed at the beginning of the class. A 10-15 minute discussion on choosing an image would have been more beneficial than being told to use Google. So future students- come prepared with ideas by googling at home.
  • 5/5 from Lesley Gillis, attended Aug 2023: Fabulous workshop. All materials supplied even aprons for the potential ink contact with clothing. Our instructor was readily available to assist with queries and provide instruction and assistance to everyone in the class. Thoroughly enjoyed my time and learned new techniques, which are always useful. Many of the students produced a lovely wood cut at the end of the lesson. Would attend further workshops.
  • 4/5 from Cath McNamara, attended Aug 2023: Great teacher, great venue, great value for money. Too many people in the class - when we needed extra help at the end there weren’t enough ink stations set up and we had to wait for help. I’m really happy with what I made. Thanks
  • 5/5 from Emma Morris, attended Jun 2023: This was a really good introductory class. I’ve never done printmaking before and now I’m really excited to learn more about it!

  • 4/5 from Ann Sala, attended Jan 2023: Teacher was fantastic. Only one suggestion, which would be to provide a few example designs if people wanted to use them. This is what I imagined would happen. Especially if they were of a Japanese theme, would be helpful for those less confident at drawing.
  • 5/5 from Alinta Koh, attended Oct 2022: Great to learn how to do printmaking at home without needing a lot of equipment!
  • 5/5 from Nic Shilo, attended Oct 2022: Emily is such a wonderful, supportive teacher. I went in with no experience or skills and walked out of the class feeling like I could get started on basic block printing at home. You don't need to know how to draw! Plus, I had a print to take home that I was so happy with that I framed it when I got home. I highly recommend this class to anyone wanting to get started with block printing.
  • 5/5 from Angela Shi, attended Oct 2022: Really fun and relaxed class! Great for beginners and anyone curious about Japanese woodblock printing. :)
  • 5/5 from Audrey McLellan, attended Jun 2022: I greatly enjoyed the Japanese Woosblock printing class today in Collingwood. I felt the class was well prepared and I learnt a lot and everyone was friendly. The teacher gave us some invaluable pointers on where to buy supplies and technique supervision was really appreciated. I had a look at most participants work at the end and for just 3 hours great talent and enthusiasm prevailed

She facilitated the class in a structured, purposeful way. Just the right amount of time for the activity and great value. Excited to frame the prints I made during the class.
  • 5/5 from Meredith Langford, attended Jun 2022: Teacher Emelie was fabulous. A natural teacher: very knowledgeable, practical & enthusiastic. Location was good. Would have been good to be able to make a cup of tea as there didn’t seem to be any local cafes & especially open on a Sunday. Parking easy on a Sunday. Class was great fun. I’d love to do another one in the future with Emilie. A great teacher who created a lovely fun & creative vibe. We all enjoyed showing off our work to our class mates!

  • 4/5 from Anne Stewart, attended Feb 2022: Interesting workshop and it was well taught with each step of the process explained. Feedback on what might work or not was also well done. It would have been good to have seen more examples of both beginner style work but also more advanced work at the beginning of the workshop so we could see we could aspire to being able to do one day
  • 5/5 from Torika Bolatagici, attended Nov 2021: Such a fun workshop! The pace was perfect- lots of time to observe, work independently, seek assistance when required and produce an amazing amount of work. Loved having all the materials prepared and ready to go. Highly recommend!
  • 4/5 from Louise McNab, attended Nov 2021: Emilie was friendly, helpful and provided clear instructions. I really enjoyed the class. If there was more time, it would be great to hear a bit more historical background.
  • 5/5 from David Baskett, attended Jul 2021: Emilie was great - everyone produced some really cool prints and I left very enthusiastic about woodblock printing
  • 5/5 from Megan d'Angelo, attended Jul 2021: Emilie was an amazing teacher to have while learning about print making. She taught the class with such enthusiasm! She clearly has a passion for print making. Emilie started by telling us a little about how print making words, and what to consider when picking an idea for our wood panel carving. She checked in with everyone and worked at the classes pace. There were many examples, demonstrations and feedback throughout the class. It was a great intro and/or refresher to the print making process. I had done lino and gelli plate prints before but still found value in learning this ancient style of print making. We got to keep our plate, and 3 prints on rice paper we created.
  • 5/5 from Brenna Kinnaird, attended Jul 2021: Emilie was a really fun and enthusiastic teacher. Class was a nice relaxed pace and was easy to learn some good wood blocking skills that I can now do at home. Would definitely recommend.

  • 5/5 from Joanne Tenner, attended Jul 2021: The introduction to woodblock printmaking with Emilie was great, she is a wonderful, encouraging and cheerful teacher. We covered a lot of ground in the workshop and I feel able to pursue woodblock printing further on my own now that I have an grasp of the basics.
  • 5/5 from Oliver Caruana-Brown, attended Dec 2019: Emily was a really great teacher, relaxed but gave all the students lots of attention and support. Very accessible and fun class
