Explore and develop surface texture on your pottery

Set in the lush greenery of the village of Emerald in the Dandenong Ranges, this workshop will introduce you to working with texture on your clay body.
With a class maximum of four people, you will expand on your beginner’s skills to explore the different techniques used for developing, designing, and applying texture to sculptural and functional wares.
You will have an opportunity to explore stamping, carving, mono-printing, and using organic materials from the surrounding bush, either individually or in combination, to create surface interest.
You will also have access to oxides and underglazes to further enhance your work, and there will be plenty of images to stir your imagination!
If time allows, you will have the opportunity to create your own stamps or stamp rollers to a maximum of four per person. All items will be bisque fired and ready for pick up two weeks later.

  • An image or mood board of something you like
  • Warm clothing in the cooler months – The temperature in the Ranges is definitely colder
  • An apron (you are available to purchase if desired) and/or clothing that is OK to get dirty
