Join us for a thrilling three hour class into the captivating world of wood burning, hosted at iCreated Studio in picturesque Mindarie.
Forget pencils and paintbrushes.
For this creative experience, your tool of choice is heat.
Join us at iCreated Studio Clarkson for a hands-on introduction to pyrography, the art of creating designs, patterns and textures by burning directly into timber.
Never held a wood-burning tool before?
Perfect.
We’ll show you exactly what to do.
First - You will play with fire
Well... responsibly.
Before you start your final piece, we'll introduce you to the wood-burning tools and show you how different tips, temperatures, pressure and movements can completely change the marks you create.
You'll have time to experiment on practice timber and discover how to create:
Fine lines and outlines
Shading and tonal effects
Textures and patterns
Different depths and burn effects
Decorative details and finishing techniques
Once you've got a feel for the tool, it's time for the good bit.
Create Your Own Timber Piece
Choose your design and transform a beautiful timber serving board into something completely your own.
We'll have a selection of designs and inspiration available, or you can put your new skills to work creating something uniquely yours.
Our artist will be there to guide you through the process, help with technique and get you out of any little creative corners you happen to burn yourself into.
By the end of the workshop, you'll have a finished timber piece to take home and that deeply satisfying ability to say:
“Yep. I burned that.”
Create. Nibble. Sip
This is iCreated, so naturally there are snacks involved.
While you create, you'll enjoy a curated share board of delicious nibbles, along with tea, coffee and refreshments.
Come with friends, come with someone who needs convincing they're creative, or come solo and meet some new humans around the table.
Never tried pyrography?
You absolutely don't need to know how to draw.
This workshop is designed for beginners and we'll guide you through using the equipment safely before you begin creating your final piece.
It's wonderfully tactile, surprisingly relaxing and just challenging enough to make finishing your piece ridiculously satisfying

  • 5/5 from Sea, attended Jul 2025: Teacher was great! Very knowledgeable and chill. We practiced wood burning on a wooden spoon and then picked a wooden board to burn and take home. Enjoyed it a lot, would recommend.
  • 4/5 from Miss Amanda Nullmeyers, attended Jul 2025: The Wood Burning Workshop was so much fun. The teacher was excellent in her ability to show us what to do and advise us on what not to do. She made it clear how to work the soldering tools and keep ourselves safe from being burnt or burning each other. She gave us plenty of template options for things to burn onto our wood as well as different board strengths and colours to choose from. Throughout the class she came around and gave each person tips on how to shade their choice of pattern and ways of enhancing the look of it by the end. I'm super impressed with the result and was blown away by how impressive you can make it look in just one session. The only two things that I would change about the class was the music level as the others within the group found it up and down with how loud it was, so I think I soft gentle volume that doesn't change after the teacher finishes speaking would have been better. The most crucial one was the seats, the seat height and the table height. For work like this you really want to see what you're doing so a certain level of being hunched is going to happen. Sadly with tall stools and a desk height that's waist level, it was SUPER uncomfortable within an hour of doing it. The session lasts for 3 hours but my body just couldn't take it and we had to stop early because my back was in so much pain. By the time I got home it was agony. If there's any way of having chairs that you can adjust their height, I think many individuals would find that really, really helpful for their enjoyment of the whole experience.
