Join us at iCreated Studio in Clarkson for The Birthday Plate, a relaxed 2.5-hour pottery painting workshop where you’ll create a beautiful ceramic plate designed to become part of your birthday celebrations for years to come.
Choose from two gorgeous ceramic plate styles, then it’s time to make it yours.
We’ll have a collection of whimsical Birthday Plate design templates available for inspiration, featuring everything from cakes and candles to bows, cherries, florals, colourful patterns, and playful birthday motifs.
But the templates are completely optional.
Follow a design, borrow an idea, mix and match your favourite elements, or create something entirely your own.
Want something colourful and quirky? Go for it. Prefer beautifully simple? Perfect. Add a family saying, an inside joke, favourite colours, or a design that means something to you.
This workshop is about creative freedom, not everybody making the same plate.
Never painted pottery before? No problem at all. We'll introduce you to our colourful range of Kiwi Underglazes, demonstrate some simple decorating techniques, and be on hand with guidance whenever you need it. No previous pottery or painting experience is required.
And because creating a future birthday tradition deserves to feel like an occasion, we’ll also serve a curated gourmet share platter for the table while you paint. Enjoy a complimentary glass of bubbles or soft drink, with tea and coffee available throughout your experience.
Once you've finished creating, your Birthday Plate stays with us at the studio.
We'll give it its first kiln firing, professionally apply a clear glaze, and then fire it for a second time. We'll let you know when your finished plate is ready to collect.
Then all it needs is cake.

We provide your pottery, decorating materials, tools, and inspiration. If you already have a particular design in mind, you're welcome to bring along reference images or ideas to help inspire your creation.
