Ceramic Glazing Workshop for Beginners

Learn the what, why, and how of glazing your pottery!

2.5 hours Class size 1 to 10 guests

  $165 (Afterpay available)

Have you made some beautiful pottery using one of the Deep Blue Ceramics take home kits, another brand's pottery kit or just by yourself? Do you want to jazz it up with some beautiful colours and glazing? Or maybe you've been to a class and have some work you've done that you need to finish off.
In this beginner-friendly workshop, you'll learn what glaze is, what it does, how to prepare your pottery for glazing, how to glaze, and how to prepare your glazed works for the kiln. Don't worry, it seems like a lot to get through but it's all pretty simple!
You'll have access to use our suite of glazes and underglazes to beautify your work and firing of the work you glaze is included in this course.
Bring your own bisque-fired work to be glazed (maximum of five pieces) or purchase pieces from us at the session to glaze.
Your fired work will be ready for collection approximately four weeks after the workshop.
Please note this session is usually combined with the last session of our beginner courses.

Please note: Public dates for this class require at least 5 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we may cancel the session; if that happens, we'll inform you and let you choose between a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class.

  • 5/5 from Liz Widdicombe, attended May 2026: Kate is an excellent articulate instructor who knows her craft inside and out. Extremely patient in tackling the many questions we all had just about asked at once. A very enjoyable evening.
  • 5/5 from Jayne Bryant, attended May 2026: This is the third course I have completed with deep blue ceramics. I just love it such a supportive environment and the course content is broken down so even the beginningiest beginners can follow along and come home with some fabulous pieces. Cannot recommend highly enough!
  • 4/5 from Jordana McKeown, attended Aug 2025: My kids gave me the gift card a few years back and I waited for something I really wanted to sign up for. The class was great. I didn’t realise I would be an add on to an existing class that has been gathering weekly - not an issue, just didn’t realise I would be the only newbie (social anxiety issues I would have liked to be prepared for). I’m looking forward to getting my pieces back. Thank you. :)
  • 5/5 from Liz Thompson, attended Aug 2024: Teacher for glazing was fantastic. I learnt heaps had fun and got an appetite to do more.
  • 5/5 from Stephanie Borst, attended May 2024: I very much enjoyed the glazing workshop. I have certainly learned and understood a lot about ceramics glazing, but mainly I am so looking forward to seeing my finished pieces!
  • 5/5 from Belinda Jones, attended Apr 2024: Amy was fantastic, so friendly and helpful. Was so much fun to paint the ceramics, can’t wait to see what they come out like after the glazing
