Are you inspired by bold abstract patterns and designs? Use the Gel Plate to explore new designs, colours, patterns, and textures as you experiment in this class with multiple layers, graphic stencils, masks, and bold colour combinations to create striking modern abstract prints. We will cover the basics and then delve deeper into some more complex designs using masking and layering techniques. We have a large collection of homemade masks, or learn to create your own - cutting out paper in the shape you want.You’ll take home a collection of unique A4 artful abstract papers (printed from an 8 x 10 Gelli plate), ready to frame or use in card making, collage, art journaling, or other creative projects.The Gelli Print Studio Series

Many students return again and again, developing their own style while discovering new techniques in a supportive and inspiring Melbourne art studio.All classes focus on play, discovery, and building confidence through simple, repeatable techniques — creating plenty of beautiful prints along the way.Whether you're searching for weekend activities in Melbourne, a creative night out, or a printmaking class to expand your skills, this series offers a welcoming and inspiring place to start.The 'Abstract Patterns In Depth' class will cover:

• Gelli printing basics, including how to use the brayer (roller) and care of the Gelli plate
• How to apply paints and choose colours
• How to build depth with simple layers and understand opaque vs transparent layers
• How to use masks and how to create your own masks for unique patterns
• How to build layers for added design complexity and interest

Please note:

• You will use non-toxic acrylic paint.
• The maximum class size is 8 students.
• Do not attend the class if you are experiencing any flu or unwell symptoms like fever, cough, sore throat, or a runny nose (a full refund will be provided if you are unwell).
