I'm a Brisbane-based artist, and I've been painting and drawing since my early childhood days. I was fortunate to receive a scholarship from the Queensland Art Gallery, which gave me ample opportunity to pursue my passion and hone my skills.

I'm very much inspired by the beauty and diversity of Australia. Many of my paintings focus on landscapes, surreal, animals and people. North Queensland is a particular favourite, and you'll see the influence of coral seas and mountain landscapes throughout my artwork. I have a post-impressionist style through which I try to capture the wonder of the world around us.

I specialise in pastel on card, and acrylic on canvas, though I'm also experimenting with abstract and air brush.

I've been fortunate enough to display my work in many art exhibitions, and have been the recipient of many prizes and awards.

I offer Paint and Sip sessions along with Clay and Sip sessions, both at discounted rates for Class Bento Patrons. I believe in bringing these experiences to the customer at the very best competitive price possible, the real Australian Way. The Retail on these sessions is RRP is $45 however I offer Clay and sip at $29 per person, and Paint and Sip sessions from $29 per person on the Cheap Tuesdays and Thursdays. Our Friday and Saturday nights are also the most competitive prices found in Brisbane discounted down to $29 per person. We offer the highest quality service with artist assistants to help customers with their paintings, along with the teachers. Our assistants will also run sessions so we will have two teachers for a single session. We have the largest range of paintings available with over 80 paintings on the gallery page of Wesley Taylor Art Studios, with the painting for each week can be found on the web page.

We have some new experiences coming available with Candle making and soap making. These will also be offered at the most competitive prices to bring them into reach for everyone. We hope you enjoy these sessions for a fun experience. The paintings are creative for maximum impact of colours, while keeping in mind for first time painting experience. Those with little more practice will create some amazing pieces

Let us plan your special events!

The shopping centre was a little difficult to navigate, but we found our way due to the signage visible from the lower floor.

Very good vibe, we ended up with another couple sitting across from us who were very cute and friendly.

Additional clay was free, which was great.

Great experience. Would love if there was a class where you could bring your clay sculpture back to sand and paint it.

Ha Nguyen Nov 2023

Was great fun Everyone was so lovely. I thought there would be more in-depth instructions but the activity was straight-forward even for beginners. Highly recommended

Jayalaxmi Suyambu Nov 2023

I loved that I was able to spend a session making with my 6 year old. The teacher was very helpful and topped up our clay when we asked. I was very happy with what I made. The class was just a bit hard to find as the directions said near a vintage shop. But we managed to find the right one and toilets nearby were very useful for washing hands at the end!

Jazmin Giddings Nov 2023

Was such a nice environment to learn some new clay crafting skills and to have fun with friends; as well as meet new people!

Great teacher, lots of fun and laughs. Venue great too and an affordable fun night out

Ella Lambert Oct 2023

Incredibly talented staff, I felt lost in my ability until Cherie literally showed me the way. She was absolutely stunning and made everyone feel like friends already! 110% I’ll do this again but maybe predrink at home because the pricing of one jug and some chips came to $74 which is insane, that’s the only thing I could fault you on. Also said there was supposed to be a pizza and pasta deal but nothing came of this?!

Pottery class review by Ella Lambert - Brisbane

Jillian Praeger Oct 2023

Our teacher gave clear instructions and gave some valuable tips.
The venue was suitable. Maybe the offer of hand washing afterwards would have been good. The equipment was adequate. It would be great if there was a bit more room for Our nibbles and drinks.
A bit more direction during the session would also have been useful and interestingencourage people to wander around and view others work with helpful hints
Altogether we had a great time.

Rosanne Byers Sep 2023

I had a fantastic time at the clay and sip class! The combination of creating pottery while enjoying a glass of wine made for a unique and enjoyable experience. The instructor was knowledgeable and patient, guiding us through the process of working with clay.

The atmosphere was relaxed and conducive to creativity, and it was great to see people of all skill levels coming together to have fun. Sipping on wine added an extra layer of relaxation and fun to the class. Was a great way to make new friends

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed working with clay, and I left the class with a sense of accomplishment and a beautiful handmade piece of pottery. I highly recommend the clay and sip class to anyone looking for a fun and creative way to spend an evening!

We had so much fun thank you! Great teachers, and a really fun night. Only negative point we had - we were confused with the 3 studio spaces, we waited outside one for 15 mins and the teacher ignored us instead of advising us we were at the wrong studio.

Sorcha Murphy Jul 2023

Good atmosphere, the teacher was very helpful and friendly, very well run. Would definitely recommend!

Eden Watson Jul 2023

The experience was fun. We were expecting the pieces to be fired at the end, which was a little underwhelming as the pieces are very brittle without firing. There was the option to have them fired the following week, though it was quite expensive per small piece.

Teacher's response

Hi Eden,

Glad you enjoyed the experience. You will find our Clay and Sip session is the best price in Brisbane at only $29 and the only one offering on-site firing service in our city studio. Including firing of $15 you would find this total cost is still well below the standard prices as a total cost including firing, you will find anywhere else for a complete service in Brisbane.

Warm regards,
Wesley Taylor Art Studios

Rachael Marsh Jul 2023

Class was okay though us and three other couples thought it was a pottery class not just clay which was a shame.
The teacher didn’t seem very involved and there wasn’t a set item to do so we felt a little lost, a step by step for each thing would have been great and what was explained was too hard to head over all the other tables talking and dining

Shanelle Nikora Jul 2023

Thanks for a great night. We enjoyed it and we are glad that we attended!

Jodie Ricossa Jul 2023

Our clay and sip experience was enjoyable. Teacher Wesley was fun, very approachable, helped us whenever asked. They provided a decent amount of clay, could always ask for more if needed.

Wesley was an absolute delight to work with and made the class super fun (even for those of us who were struggling ). We all had an absolute blast and it was a great way to kick off my best friend's hens party. The $20 lunch deal was great value and super yummy too.

Clay and Sip Pottery Class: Brisbane review by Olivia Ward - Brisbane

Liberty Candal Jul 2023

The class was heaps of fun and the staff did come around alot to see if you want help which was great.

I was under the impression that it would be more of a class where a step to step tutorial was given to create something but it was more of a DIY situation. Which was good because you had creative freedom but hard for first time clayers as we needed a bit more guidance.

Overall I think a class tutorial would have been a bit better but we still had a great time.

George Evans Jul 2023

Teacher was good and accommodating. Fun night for everyone. Relaxed environment. Freedom to be creative.

Shanell Saunders Jun 2023

More instruction would have made the experience so much better. I feel with more information and demonstration the end product would have improved markedly, especially for those of us who aren't very crafty or creative.

What was the teacher like?
The session was very hands-off and social but people who wanted help could get plenty of clay tips and advice from two overseeing teachers. For our session it was Wesley and Eve, both very friendly, helpful, and just lets you do your thing.

How was the venue (if applicable)?
The Myer Studio Centre in the evening was great, as a BYO session, there were plenty of places to buy drinks (food court downstairs, a cafe right outside the studio, Coles also downstairs)
The room is set out in two-three long tables with plenty of seating (so you can hang out with your friends in peace).

If materials were provided, did you like them?
In this session, we were provided with plenty of clay (and could get more if we wanted to) that was good quality, dried fast (good for this quick session as some people prefer to take their sculptures home in a tray, or just for sculpting in general).

We were also given plenty of clay sculpting tools, some rolling patterned moulds, a cup of water (to rehydrate the thirsty AF clay).

We could go ham with our own designs for the clay, or were provided with several laminated inspiration sheets of simple clay sculptures we could do (animals such as cats, dogs, owls. Yoga poses, jewellery bowls). They also had basic tips for playing with clay such as making pinch pots, moulding techniques, enough to get you started.

Was the experience good value for money?
The experience is definitely good value for money. Between the La Cucina venue or the Myer Studio, I've found that the Myer Centre is much better as a location (safer, slightly less confusing, more drink varieties and choices). The socialness and hands-off do-your-own-thing is great as well. Would definitely book here again in the future.

What did you do / learn?
I learned how to sculpt with clay. I haven't done anything much with clay before but it was definitely fun.

What did you like most?
I enjoyed the clay-sculpting part the most, good materials, location, very nice vibe to the session. Makes you want to come back more often.

I also booked with a friend but they were unable to come last minute, but Wesley was really great and credited it into a ceramic painting session where I could continue onto the clay figures I made today.

Note: there's bathrooms right outside the studio, in the corner where Myer is (don't go out into the big hallway and get lost like I did).

the clay and sip was a lot of fun. the facilitators were most helpful, in Particular the young lady who helped us mould some pretty awesome frenchie heads (her name escapes me, sorry but it was 02/06/23 5pm-7pm class in the myer centre) she was awesome!

was a great time and would recommend. thank you!

Perfect idea for a girls night out. Love having Cucina next door to simply order food and drinks straight to our table. What a wonderfully messy activity that gives your mind the opportunity for calm but creative respite. The teachers were great at coming at coming around and giving each individual as much attention, assistance or advice as they requested. Definitely recommend both clay and sip or paint and sip with WTAS! Our group loved it!

Natalie Stephens Feb 2023

It was a great night. For someone who has never done something like this before and although there was minimal instruction I still was able to produce something decent. The teacher advised of how to stick it together and the basics and then it was over to your imagination. More clay was offered if required and tools to assist. It would have been better if those tools were scattered on the tables and advised you could have toothpicks to assist with the integrity also could have been on the tables. Would highly recommend. The food from my the restaurant attached that you could order from was amazing 10/10.

Daniel Mehanna Feb 2023

class size too big. no actual demonstration by teacher to group. you are basically left to your own devices for most of the time with instructions and piece of clay. we could have easily done this at home.

Was expecting it to be a structured class to make a candle holder as advertised but it wasn’t. Was given a lump of clay and an ideas sheet of things you could make. Sure you could ask questions and the teacher was very friendly but not what I was expecting.

Teacher's response

Hi Julie,

Thank you for your feedback,

We offer one on one support throughout the session as outlined in the advertisement, however, we wanted to allow you (and others in the class) to have creative freedom to make anything you like. The candle holder mentioned is more of a suggestion than a directive.

We hope that you got to enjoy the class and made something that you can display with pride.

Best wishes,
Wesley Taylor Art Studios

Fun family experience. Lots of ideas provided for what to make and plenty of instructors to guide.

Wesley is a fabulous man who inspired us to be very creative. The participants were very friendly with everyone chatting to all. Thoroughly enjoyed this class and am looking forward to the next one

Mylene Wheeler Dec 2022

A very relaxed and enjoyable night. We had a great time and the instructor was helpful.

Tj Withers Dec 2022

A fun afternoon activity in the air-con! Wesley is a great teacher and provides all the tools and you can ask for extra clay if you want to make something fancy. :) Venue was at the Myer Centre and it was a weekend, so I got cheap parking literally at the Myer Centre - very easy.

Nikki Barry Dec 2022

Teachers were lovely and helpful. Sufficient materials and time to create a couple of items.
Location okay for us relative locals.
Absolutely super value for money.
Great communication regarding change of location.

Meinda Love Dec 2022

Enjoyed the class, but there was no guidance or instructions. The sheet with pictures of completed ideas to make was lacking step by step instructions. Tried to replicate a few, but ended up with a ball of clay.

Teacher's response

Hi Meinda,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

The Clay and Sip pottery session initially started with an introduction and demonstration then the two teachers give guidance one on one for the entire session while circulating the room. If you are wanting a more structured session, you may enjoy our wheel-throwing classes.

Warm regards,
Wesley Taylor Art Studios

Emily Rowland Nov 2022

The teacher was very friendly and helpful but I think I expected there to be a little more guidance than there was. I appreciated having some creative freedom but did need more help than what was available to make what I wanted to make because I had zero experience with clay.

Juni Jeffrey Nov 2022

Very therapeutic … loved the time the teacher took to demonstrate and encourage. Convenient access to the studio

Payton McLachlan Nov 2022

Amazing class, perfect to get back in touch with your inner child; 90 minutes went by in a flash. The venue is great in a function room with discounted drinks + food from the restaurant.

Martha Cooper Nov 2022

The class was great, the teachers were helpful and came around the room giving assistance. Everyone got to make their own thing so the advice was tailored to what you were wanting to make which was great.

Liubov Skavronskaya Nov 2022

We had a great time today! I’ve booked a class for me and two of my kids 13 and 8 years old. It was our first time clay class. The teacher Lily was absolutely amazing. She was very caring and helpful throughout the whole workshop. This class is a perfect way to spend some family time.

Pottery class review by Liubov Skavronskaya - Brisbane

Anja Steven Nov 2022

Expensive considering all you get is a small lump of clay and a laminated sheet with instructions. A small discount for food and drink still doesn’t really make it worthwhile. Basically supervised play dough

Teacher's response

Hi Anja,

You will find the $29 you paid is the cheapest clay workshop in Brisbane, we have purposely tried to keep the costs down on this course to make it more accessible. After the teacher has done the introduction and demonstration of basic items, they are also available during the session for any assistance, so best to make the most of their time. You may also like the BYO city workshop which will also keep your costs down for a social activity outing.

We hope that you enjoyed your class nonetheless.

Best wishes,
Wesley Taylor Art Studios

Lovely, encouraging teacher. Great venue, enjoyed sitting outside. We will be coming back for sure!

Brian Farrar-Tilley Nov 2022

it was a lot of fun but the group was so big and busy that we werent ever really getting any instruction from the teachers at all, we were prettu much given clay and doing our own thing. i would definitely recommend smaller groups or more teachers, the painting groups had a lot more instruction than we did.

Clay and Sip Pottery Class: Brisbane review by Brian Farrar-Tilley - Brisbane

Teacher's response

Hi Brian, yes it was a particularly large night you attended which was sold out with a couple of larger parties involved. We would have had 2 teachers for that size group, however unfortunately one of the teachers had called in sick and could not be replaced for that night. The clay sessions are little more relaxed, and find more people want to create their own thing, rather then a set piece everyone has to do. This has been very popular for the creative atmosphere, and little more time to socialise and enjoy a night out.

Lindsey Mackay Oct 2022

Definitely more of a DIY class but was a fun experience nonetheless! Wesley was so nice and did provide some help when asked about specific pieces to create. You're givenm clay & some tools, a sheet with some inspiration and then are let free to try create whatever you feel like!
Don't expect a guided experience. It was nice as something different to do on a Saturday afternoon.

Andrew Petrik Oct 2022

This was barely a lesson. They give you 2 squarea of clay and a sheet with basic instructions. And you're basically meant to have a play and figure it out yourself. I could have done the same at home. The place did not have air con or fans so it was hot. No music for ambience. You can't BYO drinks so you have to buy from the restaurant next door. It feels like a money making exercise for the restaurant next door rather than a class. Do not recommend this class. What a disappointment.

Teacher's response

Hi Andrew,

Thank you for providing us with your feedback! We have a choice of venues with either the City Byo Studio or the Valley Italian Restaurant and Licensed bar for those who like table service, with cocktails and pizza etc. Their function room does have air conditioning and piped music, so I will have to get on to the staff to ensure this is in order for future classes.

As they should also be giving instructions and assistance, as we do have step by step on certain pieces, however we do find most people enjoy making their own creative thing rather than a set piece. You also get as much clay as you want, however only couple of pieces at the start as it will start drying out, and is easier to work with when straight out of the packet. You will find the byo workshops under, more classes offered.

Thanks, Wesley

We had fun but no direction on what to do, just got clay and instructions on paper. Would have been nice if teacher interacted more.

Teacher's response

Thanks for providing us with this feedback and informing us of your experience.

We do set and expect a high standard of customer interaction as part of the role. I will run through some retraining for our staff member.

I am glad that you had fun! Thanks,

Wesley

What was the teacher like?
Friendly teacher but more attention would be better
If materials were provided, did you like them?
Very basic materials, only a stick and a rolling pin
Was the experience good value for money?
Yes

Tylah Cameron Mar 2022

Unfortunately this was one of the most uncomfortable worst experiences I have faced to date. The instructor was extremely inappropriate towards my friend and I (young women). We were in a small group with only one other couple, and I saw that they were just as uncomfortable. Throughout the evening the instructor made constant “jokes” that overstepped the line, and despite our uncomfortable laughing or zero reaction, he persisted. He went so far as to ask if we had “any furry bits” referring to our pubes and asked my friend if she needs “a wing ding”. I felt sick. He also made some very sexist comments saying that all women want rings from men and that we would never get a ring. If the instructor really is oblivious to how his “jokes” come across to women half his age, than take this review as a warning. I will never return and will never take another woman here. You ruined what was meant to be a gift for my friends birthday and left us feeling disgusting.

Teacher's response

Hi Taylah, I’m sorry to hear how disappointed you were with the session, and did not mean to have connotations to yourselves when referencing the clay has furry bits, or when cheers and then glass sound makes ting ting, as plastic cups. I will take this on board for the future for sure to use different words if taken out of context and misunderstood. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. To make up for it I would like to offer you to come back for free with a session with one of our twelve female teachers, apart from Clay and sip, we have Paint and Sip, Paint Pouring and Candle making which I'm sure will bring you some joy.

Claudia Siregar Feb 2022

The instructions from the teacher were clear, I had never done hand-built pottery before and I came home with satisfying results

Jade Do Feb 2022

Had a lovely time and the teachers were helpful though it was a big class it was hard to see what the teacher was doing as she mainly stuck to the front of the class which made it hard for those in the back to follow along. They also encouraged us to create freely and not to follow exactly along which I liked. Venue was nice and you could have drinks and food delivered to you from the restaurant next door, just maybe wash your hands if you decided to order some finger food! Not a lot of space on the tables to eat a full fledged meal haha. I'm happy with the outcome of the products and would definitely recommend if you're a beginner or seasoned artist!

Rani Fouladoux Jan 2022

When we arrived the table was set beautifully but the chairs were so close together, we would have been touching elbowsduring Covid times this isn't normal.
The teacher was great about it and moved the settings so there would be more space.
The class went too fast, it was hard to keep up and we finished in less than an hour instead of 2h (like stated on the booking). Then the teacher gave us moulds to play with the clay and at 12:40 we had to leave instead of 13:00.
I thought the clay was supposed to dry fast, it took 3 days, so after the class we were left with our clay stuff on a plastic plates, if you take public transport it isn't practicle at all. Maybe you should tell people to bring boxes to carry their non dried "art" back home. Also specify that the class is only an hour long.
Thanks anyway, I liked the final product.
