Although I was unwell and unable to do the class in real time, I was able to follow a YouTube recording of the same class sent out a few days later. I really appreciated that Carlie does this for each of her classes either as a ‘touch up’ afterwards or if (like me) missed the class!

Lovely approach, didn’t assume any prior knowledge or skills so it was not daunting for me to pick up a paint brush and have a go. I really enjoyed learning some of the water colour techniques. I love our native flora and this is one way of celebrating it - exploring through paint.
I have already recommended the classes to a family member. I hope to be back for more!

Absolutely adored this class! I’m somewhat slow when I do classes so I stuck to doing just the first (my pretty butterfly) of two insects.
Carlie is then amazing and sends us a recording of the class which I’ve since used to do final touches as well as start my second insect!

I loved this course! Carlie gave excellent explanations and squeezed a lot of helpful demonstrations into the 2.5 hour class. I really appreciated that a video replay was made available so that we could review the lesson to better absorb the material, as well as the additional templates of the last two insects for us to have a go on our own. I was brand new to watercolour before this course. The butterfly was my first watercolour painting ever, and while I still have a long way to go, I feel that I learnt a lot through this session :)

Carlie ran a great session for us that was fun and engaging. I'd strongly recommend her workshop for anyone interested in water colours or as a team building exercise.

We did a private class for my teenage daughter's birthday during lockdown. Each guest received her kit in plenty of time and join in easily. It was a huge hit, so much fun and everyone was laughing and learning. They now get together via Zoom to paint, using the kit we each received and the techniques we learned. Everything was so easy to learn and I am so proud of my birds, even though I am NOT creative or artsy in any way. Highly recommend this class for groups or just yourself. I found it a great way to destress and be mindful when lockdown gets to be too much.

It was nice to enjoy doing free-form. The kit materials are high quality & in between both classes I did recently I enjoyed practising on my own after watching the recording. Mum and I joined this class as a lockdown activity and it was wonderful! I already had the all the materials and even though we had different brands of paint, it was still very easy to follow. My mum, who’s self described as “not creative”, had a lot of fun and I did see a fun creative side to her. We both throughly enjoyed the class and would recommend to anyone that asked.

What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon learning new watercolour techniques and creating beautiful bird artwork. It was the perfect way to celebrate my birthday in lockdown with two of my friends also joining in from their homes. Carlie was a great teacher and a very skilled artist. She is also an excellent communicator with a phone call to check in and e-mails with tips sent out before the class to ensure I was prepared for an afternoon full of fun and playing with paint. I would highly recommend the workshop and I'm looking forward to attending another of Carlie's online workshops soon.

Thanks Carlie, that was a wonderful class for us to attend online with family for a special celebration. As our family members are in different locations and not able to travel it was perfect for us. The class was taught with very easy to understand explanations and we could clearly see what we needed to do. The materials arrived in plenty of time and were lovely to use. We were all able to enjoy this and everyone, young and old, was happy with what was achieved in this art class!

Carlie's workshop was really relaxing and she prepared us well with the kit. She was also in touch beforehand regarding shipping which I appreciated. I had done a watercolour workshop F2F in another setting a couple of years ago; this was my first time trying via Zoom - it was seamless and Carlie made it really easy to see the techniques she was using and did it at a good pace. The Zoom format made it accessible to participate where standard workshops are suitable. Sufficient time to complete 2 of the birds. Would have liked some more tips on painting the other 2 supplied in the materials.

It was a great afternoon where we learnt how to use watercolours in addition to brush techniques. We came away feeling confident in the skills we had learnt. The online class was really interactive and was not limited in any way. My best friend, her two teenage daughters and myself spent quality time together while having fun painting some beautiful Australian birds. Definitely recommend to do as an individual or with a few friends.

Really enjoyed the class, the teacher was lovely and gave such brilliant instructions. I loved this class! It was a great way to unwind after work. Carlie is great, she went through the basics of watercolour so we could then have fun playing with our own style. I ended up surprised of what I've done. Highly recommended

Carlie is an excellent teacher. This is a wonderful class not only to learn how to paint beautiful native florals and botanicals using watercolours but is absolutely wonderful for a bit of mindfulness. Particularly after a long and busy day!

What a fantastic creative activity to break up the work week! Carlie was fantastic and walked us though all the cool techniques we could use on our artworks. She was so encouraging and make the class super calming and enjoyable. I can’t believe how my paintings turned out too! If anyone is looking to get back into watercolour painting or even just try it for the first time like me, then Charlie’s class should be your top pick!

It was a great class, I really didn’t think I could create something so good on my first attempt at water colours. Teacher was really clear in directions and fun.

I thoroughly enjoyed this class. The paintbrushes supplied in the kit were easy to use & of good quality.
It is amazing the variety of paint colours you can create to apply to the birds. Carlie had her workspace set up so I had a clear vision of what she was demonstrating & explaining for each exercise. Thankyou.

I found this trickier than the bird & insect classes, but Carlie showed new techniques that were useful and had good results. Without templates the finished paintings aren't as exciting as the other classes. Practice for me makes perfect, I guess!

Loved the online class, sorry I had to leave a little early. I’m definitely looking forward to the birds. A longer pre recorded class involving more detail on the insects which I could work on at my own pace, I would be very interested in.
