This is a joyful, hands-on mini expressive journaling experience. You will be guided through simple techniques such as mark making, scribbling, collage and the use of colour (for example) as an expression of self. We centre curiosity, create playful, messy, rhythmic and spontaneous personal responses on journal pages (or sheets of paper). These explorations can be used to establish a daily expressive journaling practice that supports wellbeing and re-sparks the joy of creativity and self expression.
We guide you to centre the arts process rather than making ‘pretty pages.’
You will experience:
  • How to get started on blank pages
  • Arts based self-check-ins, ways to respond to lived experiences
  • A variety of mark-making techniques that encourage flow
  • Creative processes that support nervous system regulation
Long before I was a Master's qualified expressive arts therapist, I had a daily art journal practice that nourished me. In this mini journaling workshop, I pair my 15 years of personal journaling with a therapeutic lens of nourishing self.

Recent reviews of Expressive Arts Journaling Workshop: Getting Started

  • 5/5 from Natalie Scott, attended May 2026: Fantastic experience. Can’t wait for more!
  • 4/5 from Jodine Azzopardi, attended May 2026: I enjoyed learning about the steps to this kind of journaling. I can see it is quite intuitive and would take practice. One lady talked a lot … felt there was less space for others to speak as a result. Although I know that’s tricky to navigate.
