Hi, I’m Helen and I am passionate about all things crochet.

I am self taught and have had years of experience to master this craft. I have won a few awards at the Royal show and regional shows.. and I wanted to share my love of this fabulous craft. I find crochet to be a wonderfully relaxing pastime, it helps to soothe the soul.

I have an etsy shop where I sell some of my hat creations and I do custom designs and orders. I have decided to expand into teaching crochet as I want everyone to experience the joy of being able to create something individual from a hook and yarn. It is a truly wonderful experience to make something with your own hands. It’s very satisfying and relaxing.

I do have experience in teaching students through my work. I work as an Anaesthetic Technician in the operating room. I have also taught friends and family to crochet and I look forward to helping you start your Crochet Journey.

Went with a friend Asha was so worth it. Everything was provided and i learnt so much. I've tried books and videos and nothing worked. We both needed to be shown hands on what we were doing wrong. She's got some amazing pieces she's done. The throw pillow cover blew me away. So detailed. She made more sense than anyone else has ever attempted to show me. I'm now continuing with the granny square i feared. My mortal enemy The granny squarelol.

Helen was the most patient teacher ever, I mean EVER! I am missing the creativity gene and Helen never showed any frustration with my mistakes. The teacher was great and welcoming however I came away still not confident in crocheting on my own which was my expectation. I felt it a bit rushed st the end could of done without the coffee break. We were told to look on YouTube which we all could have done instead of paying $90 which I thought was way overpriced.

I'm so sorry kay that you thought you didn't get value for money. I was under the impression when you left the class that you had enjoyed yourself and gained some new skills. You learnt and practiced all the basic stitches, plus a few more advanced ones, and you made a pretty decent granny square by the end of the class. You seemed to be having a good time and you progressed quite nicely for a beginner. I'm not sure of what your expectations are for an Absolute beginner class, but you covered all the basics and you had some new basic skills by the end of the 4 hrs. You were not rushed, the class actually ran over by 30 minutes to give you all extra time. The internet suggestion is to now go home and practice using the internet now that you can understand what is going onnothing more, you use the internet as a tool to help you progress further. You were provided with a extensive take home workbook and quality Yarn, plus a hook and morning tea is necessary to give everyone a 10 minute break. I hope I've covered all of your remarks. Good luck with your crochet journey

Helen is a very good natural teacher, she has lots of patience and shows you clearly and precisely what to do in an understandable way. She keeps it simple and uncomplicated which was perfect for me and my 12 year old grand daughter, who thoroughly enjoyed her lesson. Helen always makes sure you understand and can do each stitch before you proceed to the next. I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher. We absolutely loved it

Helen is so wonderful! She is so patient and really gave everyone in the class the attention they needed, as everyone learns at different paces.

Plenty of free street parking at her home, and morning tea was delicious and gluten free.

We learnt how to make a granny square as well as basic stitches to start our own projects, and got a take home pack with yarn, a crochet hook, and place markers (and some lollies!)

If you’ve ever tried to learn crochet from videos and failed like me, Helen’s class is great, time flew by I had so much fun

Highly recommend I went with my mum and it was a nice bonding experience :)

Thanks Helen for the great beginner class. The time flew!

The class was 5 people which was the perfect size for any questions. I learned how to read patterns, do different stitch style and then began a granny square.

Morning tea was great and the run time was just the right amount of time to feel you accomplished something without it being overload of info!

Great class!

She explains things really well, will take time to sit with you one-on-one to help you work things out and her instruction booklet really helped to work out what to do next :)
If you are thinking about learning to crochet, this is the class for you. I have never done it before and walked out with a completed granny square, amongst other things!

This was a really fun workshop. My daughter and I arrived as absolute beginners and left with the confidence to continue on our own. Helen welcomed us into her home, explained everything in a way that we could understand, led us through the creation of a range of stitches, and started us on our first project. Helen is passionate about crotcheting and was really supportive of our progress, giving us confidence in ourselves. She provided a delicious morning tea, provided all materials and an easy to follow instruction booklet that we could take with us. We've already been practising our new skills. Excellent value for money.

My daughter booked a crochet class for me as a Christmas gift. I met with Helen, whom was teaching the class, it was at her house. Helen is a very friendly, lovely person, who welcomed us into her home &was a great hostess also. Helen is a great teacher in helping us to learn the basics of crochet stitches &how to read a basic pattern. I have struggled for years trying to learn crochet by myself &spent many hours on YouTube trying to learn to no avail. Helen was so patient & taught me to read & understand a basic pattern, I learnt more from her in the time we were there, than I had over the many years previously. Helen even made us books for us to be able to follow to take home & practice with, also some beautiful cakes. I'd like to go back & be able to make & finish something with her. Thankyou very much Helen for welcoming me into your home & helping me get alot more comfortable in learning how to crochet. What an amazing experience I had there.

Helen's Beginners Crochet Class is fantastic! Helen is so patient and explains instructions thoroughly. Nobody was rushed, we all worked at our own pace. The materials were all provided and suited our project perfectly, we also took home materials to continue on with our crochet journey. The booklet Helen has made up is easy to follow and I can now read a pattern and diagram Excellent value for money, in a very comfortable environment. What an amazing day, as a total beginner I learnt so much in the class and laughed all day. Helen is a great teacher, we were spoilt with a fantastic room set up ready to go, instruction manual, equipment, and morning tea was scrumptious. Helen was a very attentive teacher who taught us with extreme proficiency. She was calm and reassuring to those of us who struggled and encouraged each and every one of us.

Helen's house was a beautiful place with crochet projects on the walls. She even provided us with a diabetes-safe morning tea.

We were given quality yarn, a molded handle crotchet hook and a darning needle in a gift bag to keep so we could continue our practice at home.

I managed to grasp the basics from Helen who was extremely helpful whenever I lost my place. What I liked most was the positive learning atmosphere created by Helen's (and the other students) enthusiasm for the craft.

Very good value.
Would return again for another intermediate class if ever offered.

Helen was very knowledgeable, fun and engaging with the patience of a saint.
All the equipment we needed was provided with extras given in a gift pack.
We learnt that crocheting is a lot of fun and more challenging than it looks.
Would highly recommend this class and look forward to the next one.
Only comment would be Tom maybe make the class 4 hours to provide more practice time.

Wonderful beginners course, covering all the foundation stitches that you’ll need to start building your skills. Helen is a fantastic teacher, patient and knowledgeable. She took the time to spend some one on one time with each student to cater for the different learning speeds. The three hours just flew by and I’ve learned more than the months I spent trying to learn off YouTube. Would highly recommend for beginners.

All the information and tools were provided to start our crochet journey and your teaching style made it relaxed and fun. The work book was excellent and a great reference tool to go home with. Thanks for being so kind and patient with us, and for a class size that enabled you to give us all a great deal of attention. The homemade slice for morning tea went down really well also! Highly recommended for anyone looking for a really well structured beginners crochet workshop, that sets you up with all the basis and leaves you feeling inspired.

Helen has a beautiful craft room where she hosts these classes. Helen is a great teacher and very good at crochet. The materials and morning tea are provided. The class size is perfect to be able to learn beginner skills and receive help when stuck, while still moving through the content. This was great to get me started.

The small group setting was ideal meaning everyone got a good chunk of one to one with Helen who was able to teach us using her expertise and passion for crochet .

Such a wonderful morning. Helen was so patient with me. I learnt so much and not only did I learn the stitches but even how to read a pattern. Helens hospitality was top notch a yummy choccy slice and a cup of tea.
Helen sends you home with everything you need to get you started and continue practicing.
I would highly recommend this class if you are a beginner wanting to learn the basics.
