Intuitive Art Experience: Reconnect with Your Creative Path

Experience creating art using an intuitive, unstructured approach, and make something you love

2 hours

Experience size 1 to 6 (public dates), 1 to 4
$100 (Afterpay & PayPal Pay in 4 available)

In this intuitive art workshop, there's no lesson plan waiting for you, and no clock ticking through a list of steps.
The time is yours to sit quietly with a blank page, to listen for whatever wants to come through, and then to create. Some mornings that might mean one small mark on the page. Other mornings, you might fill every inch of the canvas. Either way is exactly right.
I won't hold your hand and pull you along. My role is to walk alongside you as a gentle guide, to offer inspiration, answer questions, or offer suggestions. If you want to understand a technique or how a material behaves, I'll happily show and teach you that.
You'll have real, quiet time to just do art! Try something new without needing to buy the materials yourself first.
This is not a paint-by-numbers lesson. We create through experimenting with different media, through reflection, and through your own intuitive thoughts — at your own pace, in a small group of no more than 6, whether you arrive with five friends or not knowing a soul.
What to expect:
  • Arrive and Settle: Step into a warm, unhurried space with tea, coffee, and a little something to nibble on. Lake Gwelup's bushland is right beyond the window. There's nothing to do yet but breathe, settle, and let the morning begin at its own pace.
  • Choose Your Materials: Paper, canvas, paint, ink, pencils, charcoal. It's all laid out and ready. No list to buy, no "right" choice, just whatever your hands are drawn to today.
  • Create, Your Way: No set subject, no step-by-step instructions to follow. Trust your own intuition, experiment freely, and let one brushstroke lead to the next.
  • A Moment of Stillness: Step outside if you wish, the lake and bushland right at the door make for a natural pause. A breath, a quiet moment among the trees, before returning to your work with fresh eyes.
  • Gentle Guidance, When You Want It: Cathy walks alongside you throughout — a question, a suggestion, or a technique shown, whenever it's genuinely useful. The direction stays yours.
  • Reflect Together: As the morning winds down, share a little of where your creativity has taken you today, and where it might be asking to go next.
  • Take It Further: Leave with a simple practice worth returning to — and if you're not ready to stop, stay for an optional hour of art journalling.
What you'll get
  • All art materials to use for the session: paper, canvas, paints, watercolours, inks, pencils, charcoal, and other media
  • An apron for the session
  • A spacious, unhurried morning
  • Each person will have a trestle table to themselves so they have space to move and space to experiment
  • Tea, coffee, and light snacks (Kaffeine café also just across the road, if you'd prefer a barista coffee)
  • A deliberately small group (max 6) — smaller class sizes mean more individualised attention whenever you want it
  • Art mentoring and coaching — teaching and demonstration whenever you need it
  • A moment of stillness built into the morning
  • Shared reflection with the small group
  • A simple closing practice to take home with you — something small and personal, yours to keep returning to, to guide your creative journey further
Optional add-ons:
  • Art Journalling ($100) — continue the session with an extra hour to journal your day so far: writing and sketching to gain more clarity on what you've discovered. Take the art journal home with you to complement your creative journey.
  • Creative Essence ($25) — try a taste during the session, and if it resonates, take your own bottle home to keep supporting your creativity and intuition long after the morning ends.
Knowledge required
None at all. This workshop is suitable for complete beginners through to experienced creatives. You'll be gently guided throughout the session, with plenty of freedom to explore and create at your own pace.

I paint daily. My happy place is in my art studio. My creative practice is always evolving and taking me in new directions as I continue to learn. I am a curious, creative thinker and a creative problem solver. I look at life through a coloured creative lens — so many possibilities and endless wonders of the world.
Initially I did a Diploma in Production and Design, specialising in Costume Design and Construction at WAAPA. I absolutely loved this course. I then moved abroad for 14 years, living across multiple cultures and customs — broadening all of my 5 senses.
Later, I completed a Certificate IV in Visual Arts. After years following my own creative endeavours and learning many mediums, I went on to complete a Bachelor of Contemporary Arts. Although I went in to learn to paint traditionally, I found myself on a path of self-discovery instead — drawn more toward printmaking, artists books, and glass art. I see the value of making mistakes, and how they open doors in a profound and joyful way that flows through your art-making.
My one-day workshops at Fremantle Arts Centre (2021-2022) consistently sold out. Even then, before I had any formal coaching qualification, I was naturally coaching people through their fear — helping them move past "I'm not creative" and into trusting themselves enough to create, in whatever way that looked like for them that day.
It was only through my father's palliative stage of life that I returned to painting in a big way. It was a way of expressing my internal emotions, and I have continued since. I have also become certified as a mindset coach. Put all that together, and I am fully present as a creative intuitive coach and art mentor.
I bring both a trained artist's technical grounding and an intuitive, unstructured approach to how I work with people — so if you ever want to understand how something works, not just feel your way through it, I can teach that too.
I prefer an intuitive approach to any creative endeavour. I have a loose idea for what I want to share with participants, but it's up to the individual whether they follow that plan or trust their own instincts — or as I call it, trust your own intuition.
I work with people of all creative levels, whether a complete beginner or someone more experienced. I offer a way of being in present mode — stillness or engaging conversation, depending on the individual and what they want out of the time with me.
