Looking for fun things to do in Ballina? Learn how to make your own traditional bento box at this beginner-friendly hands-on cooking class!

Led by Master Japanese chef Keita, this special class teaches you a little bit of everything about Japanese cuisine. You will be guided through the cooking process to make sure your dishes turn out delicious and you pick up some cooking skills.

At the end of the class, you will take home recipes for a variety of authentic Japanese dishes as well as your newly learned techniques and basic knowledge of Japanese cuisine. Plus you can eat your own bento box and take home another takeaway Bento for your family or a friend. Vegetarian options are available.

  • Chicken Karrage (Japanese fried chicken) or Cauliflower Karrage for Vegetarian
  • Agedashi Tofu (crispy fried tofu served in flavourful umami sauce)

Private class information: We are happy to offer a private class where we come to your home to teach. Please note that in addition to the class fee, a travel fee (Gold Coast $50, Brisbane $60) will be charged for private classes. If hiring a venue is necessary, it's also possible, so please inquire about it.

Keita Kujiura is over 15 years experience professional Japanese chef with passion for spreading charms of Japanese cuisine all over the world.

He started learning Japanese cuisine from 18 years old at a long-established restaurant in Japan.It was then when Keita found his passion for cooking and all things kitchen related.

Since 2015 Keita has moved the main base to Australia from Japan and started working as a sushi chef at popular sushi restaurant in Byronbay.

Nowadays, Keita is teaching his skill and knowledge about Japanese cuisine at cooking class and treating locals to dish by private chef.His aim is promoting Japanese food culture for locals.
