What you'll do

Welcome to the whimsical world of Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery. This craft treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise. Transforming imperfection into beauty.

After touching on the ethos behind Kintsugi, Daisy Cooper will guide you through the modern version of the craft using Urushi resin. This process is less allergenic, quick drying and a budget-friendly alternative to using precious metals. Practice carefully joining pieces together, creating beautiful and unique ceramics. In a world of disposables and throw away culture, unwind in an experience where repairing and reusing treasured pieces is celebrated!

Having studied fine art in Scotland, Daisy moved to London to pursue a career in the arts. After working for arts charities and organizations she went traveling and fell in love with ceramics. On returning she took a course in ceramics and from there has built up her practice and business.

Recently moving to Melbourne, her practice is very evolving and growing from new experiences and environments around her. The landscapes and natural environments around her influence her work everyday, drawing textural and colour inspiration for each collection.

Her work is stocked in independent shops across Australia and the UK, as well as being featured in publications and used by food stylists across the world.

Work-Shop is a creative concept that will broaden your horizons and help you unleash your inner awesome. We provide affordable short courses in life skills and alternative art. We’ve teamed up with Australia’s brightest creative minds to share their knowledge and help teach you a new skill. From 3D printing and stencil art through to music and gardening – life skills and personal development through to cooking doughnuts and mushroom foraging, we offer a broad range of fun and creative short courses to suit our time poor lives. We will inspire you to pick up that pen, paintbrush, hammer or sewing machine and flick the switch that will kickstart a whole new way of life.

Community values lie at the heart of our project. We collaborate with local artists and industry experts to teach classes and utilise local suppliers for any materials needed. We also provide a creative environment for emerging artists to produce and sell work, and meet like minded individuals. Work-Shop will be a space for everyone, with a rotating schedule of art shows, information nights on local issues and a whole range of events and community initiatives.

After not having done a workshop in years, this was really enjoyable, plus helped I was interested in the task. I loved Daisy’s approach, as she was very skilful in the art of Modern Kintsugi and through great guidance we were able to follow her lead and create beautiful pieces. Loved this workshop with Daisy Cooper who is such delight and a wonderful teacher! Very generous with her time and knowledge and she helped each person with advice or hands on assistance as they needed. The workshop space is great too. Beautifully lit with lovely people at the door and a cute puppers who greeted each person - the perfect way to start a Sunday. I look forward to coming back for other classes!

SO GOOD. Daisy was amazing. She was very cute and lovely and made everyone feel like they were doing a great job in an honest way. The materials were great :) it was unfortunate that the coronavirus delayed the takeaway materials but daisy explained everything to us :) Great class, I will definitely use this again. Great workshop, so open, well lit and beautiful and there was a dog there which was my favourite. Thankyouuu
