Japanese Ramen Cooking Class

Learn how to make the perfect Japanese Ramen

2.5 hours Location Mount Hawthorn Class size 1 to 14 guests   $160 (Afterpay available)

Looking for fun things to do in Perth? Learn how to create a warm bowl of Japanese Ramen.
This class discusses the main styles of Japanese ramen soup and their differences in type: Shio, Miso, Shoyu and Tonkotsu.
Class attendees will be treated to the Chef's delicious taster of Shoyu (pork bone and soy sauce based) Ramen before engaging in a workshop focused completely on creating the perfect bowl of Shio Ramen.
From elements such as Pork Belly Chashu to the creation of clear pork fat and Menma, every element of the perfect bowl of Shio Ramen will be explained and tasted before everyone creates the ultimate bowl of Shio Ramen complete with noodles and soft boiled egg.
In our unique hands-on learning environment, everyone is broken into small teams, and everyone makes a different dish under the guidance of the instructor.
Once the cooking is complete, you'll sit down at the end and share the food in a massive social feast.
We are fully BYO and do provide glassware if needed (for large groups we ask that you bring an Esky as fridge space is limited).
If you have special Dietary Requirements, please email The Cooking Professor before booking to discuss if we can cater for you in this Class.
Please plan to arrive 15 minutes before the start time.

Mark was very knowledgeable and gave us great tips and tricks along the way. Venue was great, awesome layout and enough room for everyone to move around. Impressively cool on a 42 degree day. We’d love to come back for more classes!
  • 3/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Sep 2023: while i did overall enjoy the session and learnt something. i found it just fell short of what i expected? i would've liked to be more involved in each process to some extent (while i understand the nature of cooking ramen makes this hard) it's also hard to retain the content without having had the practical experience myself - and following off a recipe isn't quite the same! i really enjoyed all of chef mark's advice such as cutting against the grain and was impressed at how simple it seemed to make noodles. the food was delicious and i will never be buying packaged ramen noodles again!
  • 5/5 from Hollie Benson-Lidholm, attended May 2023: Class was amazing, Teacher was really energetic and made the room feel welcome. Everything we did was explained extremely well, food was amazing and I’m excited to try at home Would definitely recommend this class to anyone who was thinking about going!
  • 5/5 from Anna-Maria Shellabear, attended Apr 2023: Sunny has great energy and took the time to answer all of our questions and get everyone involved.
  • 5/5 from Eric Carino, attended Jan 2023: He is nice and approachable. Learning from him about cooking was so easy to follow. looking forward to see another cooking lesson from him.
