What you'll do
In this hands-on school holiday workshop, older kids and teens will explore screen printing in a more design-led way—creating their own surf-inspired tote bag using a curated range of bold graphic elements.Rather than working with a single design, participants will build their own composition using up to three different screens. Choosing from a collection of surf-style graphics, students will layer elements to create a balanced and visually striking print.We’ll guide them through how to place and combine their designs so the final result feels intentional and well-composed. Each student will create their own tote bag and can also choose to bring a t-shirt from home to print an additional design if they wish.This workshop is perfect for kids ready to take their screen printing a step further, experimenting with layout, layering, and personal style to create something that feels more considered and unique.Why They Will Love It: This workshop is a great fit for both first-time printers and returning students who’ve already joined our screen printing classes. Kids who’ve printed with us before will love building on what they’ve learned—using multiple screens to layer colours and create a more considered, graphic design.Each participant will leave with a tote (and optional t-shirt) that feels bold, balanced, and completely their own.What they'll learn:
- How screen printing works using single-colour screens
- How to build a design using multiple elements
- How to layer prints to create a balanced composition
- How to place designs for a strong visual result
- How to apply fabric ink using a squeegee

- Parents must drop off and pick up children in person and complete a short admission form.

Knowledge required
Designed for kids aged 12–15 (Years 7–10), this workshop is perfect for older kids and teens who are ready for a slightly more independent, design-led project.Confident Year 6 students who are comfortable working independently are also welcome to join, particularly those who feel ready for a more design-led workshop.No prior experience needed.Please note this class is not suitable for children under 11 years old or below 6th grade at school.
What to bring
- Optional: A plain t-shirt to make an additional print (natural fibres work best, pre-washed for best results).
- A packed lunch, snacks, and a water bottle.
- Please avoid foods containing nuts or other common allergens (as a courtesy to other participants).
