Tap into your green thumb and learn how to make Kokedama moss balls at this interactive plant workshop - a must do in Adelaide!
Kokedama - Japanese for moss ball, are sometimes known as 'poor man's bonsai'. Kokedama is the art of encasing the roots of plants in layers of special soil and moss, effectively making a ball at the base of the plant which can then be hung or placed on a saucer to display.
In recent years, Kokedama has become a fashionable way to display both indoor and outdoor plants, gracing the interiors of hip individuals and the windows of groovy cafes. More than that, Kokedama are great fun to make; and straightforward once you know the steps and materials involved. Made to this method, Kokedamas can thrive for years if maintained well.
In this hands-on workshop, you will learn how to create a kokedama using traditional Japanese methods - how they were made for centuries - so that your plants have every chance at success. All materials are provided along with notes, plus you will create two small Kokedamas to take home with you!

The Kokedama class was excellent value for money. The venue was a purpose built room decorated with a lovely feature wall of plants, and the instructor was both entertaining and welcoming. All aspects of Kokedama were covered, from it’s history through to plant and material selection and upkeep. The materials and plants used to make two Kokedama were of the highest quality, and the class was well structured and flowed smoothly.
An excellent way to learn a traditional Japanese planting style
