What you'll do
If you're looking for new, fun things to do in Canberra, learn the art of making a Japanese moss ball - a kokedama! Get your hands dirty, reconnect with nature and discover the relaxing qualities of plants.
Kokedama are a traditional Japanese way to hang plants, the hanging baskets before our time. Kokedama translates to ‘moss ball’, where plant roots are wrapped in moss, bound by string, and suspended.
You will learn step by step how to make your own DIY kokedama, and gain tips and tricks on the best soil composition, plants to use, and string tying techniques.
This workshop is a great option for community activities, team building or festival entertainment.
They make a beautiful feature for your home, and at the end of the workshop, you’ll have your own DIY kokedama to keep! Adorn your walls, or make unique gifts for a fellow plant lover, and gain all the skills you need to continue your love for houseplants and make plenty more kokedama.
All Mate Studio Workshops are mobile and are held at a location of your arrangement - home, office, park, venue!
Please note: The class will run for approximately one and a half to two hours.
