Learn how to shape silverclay into your own ring. I'll guide you through each step, so beginners are always welcome.
Set Your Gemstone
Choose your favourite gemstone and carefully set it into your ring to add your own personal touch.
Smooth & Refine
Once your ring has dried, you'll gently sand and smooth the surface, getting it ready for firing.
Fired, Polished & Ready
After the workshop, I'll kiln fire and polish your ring in my studio that'll be ready for pick up!

No previous jewellery making experience is needed. I'll guide you through every step, so you'll feel confident creating a ring you'll be proud to wear.
What to bring
* Reading glasses if you need them for delicate stone setting.* If you're making a ring for someone else, please bring one of their rings for sizing, as paper or tape measurements can be unreliable.* A ring sizer will be available during the workshop to help you find your size.Planning a larger size ring or a more "chunky" design? Extra silver clay is available to purchase on the day.Everything else is provided.

Shirley Wu is an award-winning artist based in Adelaide, specialising in jewellery, glass art, and commissioned pieces. She has years of experience working with metal and glass, and has been leading jewellery workshops for three years, helping participants of all skill levels create unique, meaningful pieces.Shirley’s workshops are fun, hands-on, and beginner-friendly with clear instructions, designed to help participants bring their ideas to life through silver-clay and contemporary jewellery-making techniques. Whether you’re looking to learn a new skill, create a one-of-a-kind jewellery piece, or explore the artistry of metal and glass, Shirley provides a supportive and engaging space for creative expression.Shirley’s artistic practice explores transmigratory experiences, holistic healing, and meditative processes. Her art practice spans jewellery, installation, performance, video, and audio, often reflecting on her upbringing in a traditional Chinese patriarchal family and her evolving feminist awareness as an Asian immigrant.Shirley holds a Master of Design (Contemporary Art) from the University of South Australia and a Bachelor of Arts in Jewellery & Accessories from Middlesex University, England. She is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including the Adelaide Fringe Best Workshop & Talk Award (2025), Pilchuck Glass School Scholarship (2024), and Brighton Jetty Emerging Artist Award (2022). She was also a finalist for the Fuse Glass Prize (2022) and the MilanoVetro-35 (2020).
