Shirley Wu is a multiple award winning emerging artist who has her studio located at the Fleurieu Arthouse in the winery region of McLaren Vale, Adelaide.

Inspired by holistic therapy from my previous training in Hong Kong, I have a strong interest in how the creative process generates healing in mental health through meditative making and sensory experience. My practice crosses contermporary jewellery and sculptural object making by using glass, silicone, stone, ceramic, metal and other materials, through lampwoking, moulding and casting, metalsmithing and stone caving techniques.

Great class, Shirley was a lovely informative teacher, nice venue in a good location I the city, all materials were provided. Went with my adult daughter and we both really enjoyed making our own rings with silver clay and little stones, learning the techniques we were complete beginners in and really look forward to picking upper finished rings soon. It was a nice small class of 6 people and Shirley was really helpful and gave us each attention as we needed it and good demonstrations. Was a good challenge but not too hard that you feel stressed or couldn't follow along or enjoy what you made. Would absolutely do again and recommend highly.

Shirley was so helpful during the class and made sure everyone was looked after to make sure their rings would come out the best way possible. She is knowledgeable, kind, and funny which made the class enjoyable. I would not have expected that I could make such a beautiful ring for my first time! The materials and gemstones are high quality as well. Would recommend this class to anyone wanting to try making their own jewellery!

Venue was good
Teacher was approachable and friendly however could maybe introduce everyone in the class to one another
I think could have been supplied more silver material as when we got there were told we could probably only make 1 thing and we had to scrape off every last drop to use

We had such a fun time celebrating our birthdays with Shirley! She guided us every step of the way, and gave us enough time to experiment with gem choices and ring shapes without feeling rushed, and there were some really helpful examples of finished rings so we could have some inspo. The materials were excellent and we will definitely be booking this class again - and I can’t wait to see the finished product!

Shirley was great. Gave good and clear instructions. The class was great and enjoyed. The only thing is the options for pick up. Shirley was flexible with time but only one day option which happened to be my busiest day. I was assuming the pick up would be at the same venue in own time. But that’s minor and the rest was fantastic.

Had the best time with Shirley! They were so helpful, informative and had some really amazing chats. Was awesome to checking out the art exhibits while waiting for our rings to dry so we could sand them as well. Was given all the tools needed and loved the whole experience from beginning to end. I did this workshop as I wanted to learn what I could prior to making my own jewellery from home with pmc and learnt more then I expected. Its an incredibly therapeutic craft, perfect mindfulness activity.

The teacher was knowledgeable, patient, warm and friendly. The venue was light, comfortable and pretty. Attractive, colourful materials were provided. We learnt new skills and knowledge and each of us created a gorgeous piece of jewellery, that we will treasure. I would enthusiastically recommend this workshop.
