Guided step by step, you’ll start by creating a coiled base and mastering a simple spiral stitch to shape the walls of your basket. By the end of the class, you’ll have a finished or near-complete basket and the knowledge to continue crafting at home.
All materials provided—just bring your creativity!
Plus, you’ll receive an electronic guidebook to support your weaving journey beyond the workshop.

  • 5/5 from Michaela Bryce, attended Jun 2026: Leah was a fabulous teacher. She was very pleasant and well prepared and the speed of teaching the trickier first steps was perfect. • 5/5 from Jeremias La Barbera, attended Jan 2026: Excellent and I loved the railway station setting at Michelago! Leah is very learned and imaginative in her craft and provided us with a wonderful environment to bundle the pine needles, wrap them with thread, coil the needles and then with open stitches continue with the coiling, coiling, and more coiling as if it were a meditative mantra. And here I am at home continuing the coiling until a basket takes form from the simple things nature gives us…and with delight. Thank you Leah!
  • 5/5 from Jodie West, attended Oct 2025: Had a fantastic class with Leah! Really enjoyed the way she imparts her knowledge to people, clear precise instructions and lots of hints and tips to make a beautiful project. While we ran out of time to completely finish the project, she gave lots of tips and ideas to get the finishes we wanted. Lots of examples of finished works from her studio for inspiration! Great hands on class!
  • 5/5 from Alison Allen, attended Oct 2025: I really enjoyed the four hour pine needle basket making class with Leah. She is a gentle soul who teaches new concepts as and when needed throughout the class time so that no one felt pressured or bewildered. Although I didn't get beyond a flat base, I am happy with what I achieved. I loved the quality of the waxed linen thread and range of colours available to us and within hours of the class purchased more as this is a craft I want to pursue. I really hope I can do an extension workshop with Leah in the future. A bonus for me was the location of the venue and also appreciated how light it was, with enough room for each of us. I highly recommend this class with Leah.
