The kit was nicely packaged and contained everything required except scissors. The instructions were clear and useful, and explained the Japanese terms and uses of the finished item.
A really lovely pack to introduce someone to a new technique.

Dan's knife sharpening workshop at Pop Canberra was a fulfilling and engaging experience. The class provided foundational knife theory and the skills to sharpen a range of non-serrated knives. Each individual left the class with at least one highly-sharpened knife and the ability to sharpen more.

Dan easily connected with each of the people in the intimate workshop and took the time to individually assess their technique and progress. He identified each student's mistakes and helped them correct each one in a gentle and supportive manner. The result was a class full of confident and proud people.

Quality coarse and fine Japanese whetstones were provided to each person, with the option to purchase for a heavily discounted price. Vegan strops were complimentary. All other required items were also provided including practice blades, spray bottles and mats.

I hadn't visited Pop Canberra before, but enjoyed both the downstairs shop filled with local artists' works and the upstairs studio. Being located in Braddon, Pop Canberra is easily accessed by both car and public transport. The staff were personable and eager to help, educating me about the local artists they support.

This course taught me a valuable life skill and opened my eyes to the world of knife quality and care. Pop Canberra were fantastic facilitators and the enthusiasm of the staff was tangible. I will recommend this course to others and look forward to my next class at Pop Canberra!
