This beginner-friendly jewellery making class, "pendantify" is for anyone who has ever wanted to make their own silver pendant!
In this hands-on workshop in the Blue Mountains, you will learn how to use a jeweller’s saw to cut out shapes from sheet metal (both copper and silver) to create a pendant from scratch - designed and hand made by you!
You will begin learning how to work with metal, first using copper to practice saw-piercing and texturing which will help develop your idea. Then move on to creating your own beautiful sterling silver pendant.
Essential techniques covered:
- Metal cutting: learn how to saw-pierce metal using professional jewellery saw frames
- Texturing and stamping: whether it’s a hammered texture or stamping, there is a range of tools to experiment with.
- Anneal and Soldering: using special jewellery torches watch how to anneal metal and solder.
- Finishing: learn how to file and use emery paper to give your earrings a final finish.

Fran is a visual artist, explorer and connector.
Fran is a local jewellery artisan, Ladybird Design, creating bespoke jewellery for over ten years. Ladybird Design is where each jewellery piece is a unique design and individually handcrafted.
Fran has always been creative and has a Bachelor of Arts, Visual Arts. She has been painting, card making and creating collages for over 27 years.
Since moving to Blue Mountains in 2017, Fran has continued to create art, mainly bespoke jewellery and teaches workshops on jewellery, painting, card making, collage, printing and bees wax wraps.
She'd like to share the joy of creating and making with you.

What a terrific way to spend a Sunday. With only 3 students the class was the perfect size for a lot of one on one instruction and guidance. Fran has great patience with clueless novices Cuppas, a yummy variety of snacks, a lovely dog, a beautiful cat and the gorgeous Blue Mountains view! I even produced (with a fair bit of help) a pendant I'm not embarassed to wear. Thanks Fran, I'll be back.
