What you'll do
Terrarium trouble? Bring it to our plant care workshop! Join us for this in-depth troubleshooting and first aid class for terrariums.
Bring along your own troubled terrarium for diagnosis and healing from our resident terrarium doctor, Charlene. This unique terrarium workshop is for anyone who wants to learn more about terrariums, what can go wrong, and how to deal with things when they do.
Your terrarium doctor is Charlene, owner of Botanista, South Australia's original terrarium store. Charlene has seen every possible thing go wrong and knows what to do to help you either move forward with your terrarium or start again.
In the first part of this workshop, you'll learn about common issues with terrariums, what they look like and how to treat them. We'll discuss open terrariums, closed terrariums and terrarium maintenance.
The second part of the workshop is interactive - we'll diagnose issues with your terrarium and you will be able to fix them on the spot with Charlene's guidance. There will be plenty of time for you to play and pep up your terrariums together.
Once the workshop has concluded, you may stay on to work on other terrariums in your collection in our workshop room, with access to all materials at their regular prices.
Please note: plants, springtails and other accessories are not included in your workshop fee, but you will be able to select from our huge range of specialist terrarium plants and products.
Important information: this is not a beginner terrarium building workshop, we will not be creating a terrarium from scratch. This workshop is designed for people who already have a terrarium and want to know more about care, maintenance and common problems. Please bring along a terrarium you would like help with if you wishÂ

- We will provide all specialist substrates if you need to take everything out and start again or need to top up (substrates complimentary for terrariums 25cm diameter and smaller - a small fee will apply for larger terrariums). Does not include coloured sands for layering.

Botanista is a creative space in Port Noarlunga that melds workshops, South Australia's only Terrarium Bar and a beautiful shopfront filled with plants, terrariums and a dash of magic.
Owner of Botanista, Charlene Maney, opened Botanista in 2018 with a passion for plants, making gardening fun and bringing the community together.
Charlene has been an educator for over 20 years. Her experiences include teaching and overseeing the Indonesian language department in Canberra for the Department of Defence; and overseeing teaching staff as well as teaching several courses herself at the Worker's Education Association of South Australia.
Previous to opening Botanista, Charlene had been running her award-winning online store, Fleurieu Gifts and teaching botanical workshops since 2014. Many of the workshops held at Botanista have been running continuously since the early days of Fleurieu Gifts in 2014.
