Join us for this all-new workshop from alcohol ink artist Katy J! Let your creativity bloom in this exciting Port Noarlunga workshop focused on creating an abstract, organic botanical painting using alcohol inks.
In this beginner-friendly workshop, Katy from Katy J Designs will show you how to use alcohol inks with paper to paint your own abstract botanical painting. You will create one A3 painting on Yupo paper that you can frame.
Alcohol inks not only look amazing, but they are fun to use. You will create your own version of an abstract botanical artwork similar to those by Katy J shown in the pictures above.
Important health information: alcohol inks can give off fumes that may cause issues for people with respiratory illnesses. Not suitable if you are pregnant or suffer from respiratory disease. Class maximums are kept small in this class to allow space for fans and the use of smaller amounts of materials.

  • 5/5 from Christine Cederblad, attended Nov 2023: I thoroughly enjoyed learning how to create a piece of art using Alcohol Inks. It was a relaxing experience and can definitely recommend it as a diversion from stress. The supplies given were sufficient to create a lovely piece of art. Katy who supervised the workshop shared her knowledge of the art form in a friendly, encouraging manner. Thank you Katy
  • 5/5 from Fiona Broadbent, attended Nov 2023: Thank you so much Katy, this was a great experience. I’ve enjoyed both of your alcohol ink classes. Amazing.
  • 5/5 from Helen Adams, attended Nov 2023: Hi I found the course relaxing and fun. Haven't used that medium before but can see enormous future use and with Christmas coming up will start with Christmas cards. Katie was very friendly and helpful. Good size group, any more would be to many in the space. Cheers Helen
  • 5/5 from Clea Fisher, attended Nov 2023: All of the class- teacher/ equipment just great fun with a beautiful image to frame
  • 5/5 from Deb Sears, attended May 2023: Friendly class, easy to follow instruction and positive feedback for our random 'messes'. Very enjoyable and rewarding experience.
  • 5/5 from Rebeka Ryding, attended Jan 2023: Great introduction to alcohol inks, got to try a selection lots of different colours and try out techniques with the air blower. I'm glad we got a practice page first, (haha) before moving onto the real thing. I appreciated the advice on how to create our botanical design. The metallic ink was amazing
  • 5/5 from Charlene Maney, attended Jan 2023: This was the second time I've done this workshop and I loved it. Katy is patient and excellent at explaining. A great exercise in letting go and going with the flow.
  • 5/5 from Stacey Wortmeyer, attended Oct 2022: This was created perfectly! I took my mum as a belated birthday present and she loved it. There is no pressure to be good at art in any form. The venue is beautiful and all the staff are lovely. The teacher explained the process really well and in simple terms for everyone to understand. I will definitely be looking into another workshop here.
  • 5/5 from Lianne Quinn, attended Jul 2022: Always great classes @ Botanista, very Welcoming, easy to follow, not rushed, and love exploring & trying out he varying creative styles/classes on offer. Katy was wonderful, inspiring & encouraging. Good to hear how she benefits from being creative also, lovely Woman, sharing her talents with us & sharing the morning with my Girlfriend was memorable, Thank You
  • 5/5 from Sharryn Campbell, attended Jul 2022: Enjoyed the lesson Katie was lovely and explained the process well A little disappointed about the time as the session only went for 1 hour instead of the 1.5 hours paid for
  • 3/5 from Sharon Finney, attended Jul 2022: The teacher was lovely and the venue was ok however the workshop was not what was advertised unfortunately. I and I believe others were expecting the workshop to go for 1 & 1/2 hours but it only lasted 1 hour. Also the booking information explained that the workshop would let you practice with pieces of paper the inks etc prior to creating an A3 piece to take home. There was no time to practice techniques on any paper prior to creating one piece of A3 work. Very disappointing as I was expecting to be able to learn and then practice several techniques prior to attempting an A 3 piece. A quick demonstration at the beginning of the workshop was not sufficient as I am sure there are many techniques one could try. Sorry I would have loved to be more positive about my experience but can’t be.
  • 5/5 from Sharn Nulty, attended Jun 2022: A wonderfully relaxing class that allowed you to create beautiful pictures and no skill required. Totally enjoyed the lesson.
