Clay Sculpture Workshop: Make a Human Torso

Genuine Fine Art Experience (without life model)

2 hours Location Darlinghurst Class size 1 to 10 (public classes), 3 to 35   $99 - $119 ($119 per guest when you book for 1+ guests, $109/guest for 4+ guests, $99/guest for 10+ guests)

Indulge in a relaxing fine art experience with Imakesculptures in Sydney and learn how to sculpt a human torso.
You will be able to look at torso sculptures, as well as the slide show. Your teacher Irina is a Master of Fine Arts Sculptor whose sculptures will be there for reference, and photographs presented are made by another fine artist.
Everyone will receive wooden armature fixed on a wooden stand which will help to build the sculpture and provide the basic proportions that can be challenging for beginners.
Irina will go around from person to person to gently nudge your sculpture in the right direction. If you want to receive more in-depth instructions, you are more than welcome to ask.
One of the major differences between applied (such as pottery making) and fine arts is that in the fine arts there are no strict rules that could make our project unsuccessful or "failed" to serve its function.
This means, that with the right guidance, everyone will be able to create a little sculpture that will undoubtedly have its beauty and artistic features.

Irina provided all the tools required, gave us expert one on one advice about our proportions and helped a group of novices create wonderful pieces of art. We were able to bring snacks and drinks and many guests commented on how relaxed they felt. The kicker for me as the organiser was being able to take our artworks home with us on the day! Thank you for a wonderful afternoon Irina!

Relaxed and therapeutic session, highly recommend!
  • 4/5 from Jasmina Sinanovic, attended Aug 2024: The place is very easy to find, very friendly teacher who was happy to provide feedback and assist with fixing your sculpture so it didn’t turn out terrible. I didn’t think about how we’d bring our sculptures home but Irina was so thoughtful in packaging them for us so they wouldn’t get ruined in easy to carry boxes. I believe it’s great value for money with all tools provided and for the time you spend there. I felt like it could be shorter. It was such a nice atmosphere and vibe in the workshop. Thanks Irina!

  • 5/5 from Louise Calleja-Blake, attended Apr 2024: I booked a Private Class for 4 people with Irina from Imakesculptures as a gift for my daughters 15th Birthday. Irina doesn’t usually work on a Monday but as it was a special occasion she was very accommodating and offered to hold a Private class just for us! The workshop was a Clay Sculpture Workshop - Making a Human Torso. We had a fabulous time and as we were beginners she even gave us extra time to complete our works of art. Irina was an excellent teacher, demonstrating techniques, guiding us along the way and giving us lots of tips that made the process enjoyable and productive. She is very warm and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Her art studio is great with lots of works to help inspire us all. The workshop was definitely good value for money which included the clay, apron, tools to use and take home and refreshments were provided as well. I recommend this course for everyone and will be booking more workshops in the future. Thanks Irina for a lovely, fun and inspiring afternoon. We all had a ball and Bella thoroughly enjoyed her Birthday Treat! Louise
  • 5/5 from Simone Marin, attended Apr 2024: I went to this class with a group of friends. We felt welcome in Irina's bright and calm studio, sitting down with a cup of tea and watched over by her very friendly cat. The materials were all ready for us, and the sculptures came together surprisingly quickly, from blobs of clay to a recognisable and unique shape. Irina let us each develop our own piece, but gave expert advice and hands-on assistance, showing us key anatomical features that made the models so much more lifelike. It was a really lovely evening and we are all happy with our creations.
  • 5/5 from Alvina Hasty, attended Mar 2024: Went for a night out with my sister. It was just the two of us at the workshop. Irina was warm and welcoming, offering us water and a chai latte on arrival. Her cat also greeted us, haha! She helped us to make our sculptures, showing us different techniques, how to use the tools and teaching us a bit a bit of anatomy along the way. The two and a half hours flew by and my sister and I were both delightfully surprised at the sculptures we managed to create under Irina’s guidance. Highly recommend the workshop with Irina!
  • 5/5 from Madison Markel, attended Oct 2023: This was the perfect class for my sister's hen party. We all enjoyed Irina's teaching style, as she provided instructions and personal one-on-one help, while also allowing everyone in the group to chat and catch up. There were cups and dishes available for the snacks we brought which was a huge help. Everyone loved how well their sculptures turned out, an extra plus! Very easy to contact and communicate with.

  • 5/5 from Chloe Sklavounos, attended Jun 2022: This workshop was a lot of fun. It was held in a small studio, which was perfect for the hands on experience and maximised one-on-one time with the teacher. 2.5hrhs was the perfect amount of time to get the hang of things and get your sculpture to the point where you're proud of what you've created. No experience is necessary to make the most of this class.

Hi, I'm Irina.
I like to introduce myself as a sculptor, although I'm engaged in different art disciplines too. I have never had another profession, nor have I wanted one. I fell in love with three-dimensional art at a very early age which came to me naturally, as I was born in a family of artists. It was the world I've grown up in, a measure of value around me.
I have graduated from Fine Arts, majoring in Sculpture, and with a bit of luck, I had a chance to work internationally and gain great experience in different industries and media. Cooperating with professionals from other creative fields has perfectioned my skills and broadened the views of my artistic expression.
I have tried to gather all the projects I am engaged in on this website, showcase it, sell and teach my art. Always open for the new projects with fellow creatives, just get in touch.
