Drama has a long and rich history, going all the way back to the ancient Greek amphitheatres where touring comedies and tragedies captured the imaginations of people all over the country. Each civilisation developed their own unique theatre styles, but all had the same ability to mesmerise their audience. While the Japanese were busy perfecting the masked theatre art of kabuki, the Italian’s were developing their famous commedia dell’arte theatre of the 1600’s, incredibly similar styles despite being worlds apart. Acting juggernauts such as Bertolt Brecht and Constantin Stanislavski defined how we now teach acting and drama, and the public’s enthusiasm for performance shows no signs of slowing down. Learning to act through drama classes and theatre workshops is a perfect way to engage with the rich history of theatre whilst building your own confidence and acting style.
Can you recall the last time you jumped on a stage and performed for your friends, family, or colleagues? It may have been a very nerve-racking experience, but with our drama classes in Brisbane, you’ll be able to expunge the natural fear that comes with addressing large groups of your peers. Theatre workshops and drama classes in Brisbane are different from our other artistic courses in that although most are run by only one instructor, occasionally our adult drama classes will have a guest practitioner in, to aid the running of the class and give a deeper creative insight. Two opinions are better than one, so you can be sure you’re getting bang for your buck if another instructor is invited along to one of our adult drama classes. All of our instructors have extensive experience in both performing and teaching and, depending on the drama class, offer you the chance to take home any visual or audio recordings of performances that you engaged in within the short acting courses.
