Kingston Clay Studio was founded on real industry experience. Studio owner and second-generation potter Peder Wilhem McCanless, trained in the Seagrove, North Carolina tradition, has spent over 40 years as a working potter, production studio owner, gallery owner, and nonprofit pottery organization leader across the US and Australia. That background sets the standard for everything taught here. Our instructors teach proven production techniques, the same methods used by potters working in the industry, not just classroom exercises. The equipment throughout the studio, including our wheels, kilns, mixers, and pugmills, is professional-grade gear we also sell directly to the public as an authorized dealer for Nidec-Shimpo and Venco. Our facility is fully heated and cooled, well lit, and spacious enough to host team building events for up to 50 participants.
