Throwing Big: Wheel Pottery Masterclass with Dan Dee

Level up your throwing skills and learn to work with larger forms in this hands-on full-day masterclass.

6 hours Class size 1 to 8 guests

  $195 (Afterpay available)

This one-day intensive is for potters who are ready to go bigger on the wheel. You’ll learn how to centre more clay, throw larger forms, and use sectional techniques to build tall, bold pieces.
Led by experienced ceramicist and TNP Founder, Daniel D'Appio, this workshop is ideal for those who are already comfortable throwing medium-sized work and want to take the next step. It’s a deep dive into the techniques, tools, and mindset needed to scale up successfully with guidance, demos, and plenty of studio time to practise.
You’ll explore how to manage the weight and structure of large pots, join sections cleanly, and troubleshoot common issues when working big. We’ll also touch on trimming, drying, and studio-safe handling of larger work.
What you'll get
  • 6 hours of expert instruction (including a lunch break)
  • A supported studio environment with wheels, space, and tools
  • Tea, coffee, and light snacks throughout the day
  • Firing of one large piece (additional pieces can be fired at standard studio rates)
