Fun Woodworking classes in Brisbane
Woodworking for beginners
Get crafty at ClassBento’s woodworking class in Brisbane and discover what it takes to make hand-crafted furniture, decorative pieces and wood sculptures! In these highly interactive, educational and exciting Brisbane workshops you’ll learn the basics of artisan woodwork, what materials and resources are required in building wood products, and how to develop your own carpentry skills and style! Our woodworking classes are perfect for beginners and experienced craft enthusiasts alike, and make for one of the quirkiest weekend activities Brisbane has to offer!
Woodworking is one of the oldest crafts known to man, however, the industrialisation of woodworking and carpentry has altered some of the world’s most expansive forests, and is only proving more unsustainable. That’s why it is crucial to think sustainably when it comes to wood and other natural products. Choosing to turn down mass-produced woodwork and crafting your own products is a very good step in acting more sustainably towards the environment and local businesses. By supporting local craft practitioners who focus on sourcing sustainable materials and resources, you’re not just learning a new craft, but you’re making a conscious step towards a more sustainable planet. Our woodworking classes in Brisbane have a strong focus on sustainability, and by choosing them over mass-produced products you’re not just helping the environment, you’re also supporting your local practitioners and small businesses.
Our woodworking classes in Brisbane are a fantastic way to step out of your comfort zone and try a craft that is a little more challenging than others. DIY wood projects and woodworking courses require a higher level of concentration and commitment than some of our other Brisbane workshops due to the tools required for woodworking. Although our woodworking classes cater to people of all ages, shapes and sizes - including woodworking projects for kids - our Brisbane workshops may not be the ideal choice if you’re brand new in the world of craft. Don’t let this scare you away, however. With more effort comes more reward, and our woodworking classes in Brisbane are an exceptionally rewarding and exciting experience for newcomers and multi-discipline artists alike.
Learning DIY wood projects is a superb way to expand your own craft abilities or dive into the deep end if you’re a beginner to arts and crafts. Woodworking courses in Brisbane are an exceptionally hands-on activity, and learning to craft objects out of wood requires a rewarding amount of physicality, so you’ll enjoy working up a bit of a sweat as you craft your small wood projects.
What to expect at woodworking classes in Brisbane
Our woodworking courses are run by industry professionals who have extensive experience in carpentry and teaching. Many of our woodworking courses have a bouquet of options in regards to what you can make and how long they take. Running short courses and day workshops, as well as woodworking classes that extend over several weeks, always double-check with the woodwork instructor to ensure you're selecting the class that best suits your time, schedule and ability.
Many of our practitioners offer both public and private sessions, as well as additional extras and special packages tailored for specific group needs. Never hesitate to contact the class instructor ahead of time if you have any special requests or specific requirements for your woodworking class.
Woodworking is great for your wellbeing
Learning woodworking is one of the most effective forms of art therapy. Not only is it considered a form of “focused attention meditation” where the activity itself requires a level of focus that mimics the way meditation influences the brain, but it’s also a whole-brain activity. An activity or craft will often activate either the creative right side of the brain or the analytical logical left brain.
Woodworking, however, requires a blend of imagination, problem-solving, creativity and mathematics. This has been found to be very effective in lowering blood pressure and helping reduce stress and depression. On top of this, learning a new skill promotes the growth of white matter in the brain. This helps open up new neural pathways and helps in warding off degenerative brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s and dementia.
Custom classes
Want to learn or experience something specific? You can easily contact our teachers and arrange a custom workshop at your preferred time and to suit your skill level.
If you’re looking for a unique and memorable event, these workshops are perfect things to do with friends on the weekend, for aged care groups, team building exercises, indoor things to do, and kids weekend activities. We've got a range of teachers who cater specifically to larger events, and we can customise classes to meet your needs. Get in touch today and we'll put something together for you.
