Hosted in the warm and relaxed atmosphere of my home kitchen in Neutral Bay, this cooking class is designed to bring the vibrant flavours and diverse traditions of Indian cuisine right to your plate. With over 300 million vegetarians in India, the country’s culinary landscape is full of delicious, plant-based meals that are packed with flavour, comfort, and culture.
My goal is simple: to make Indian vegetarian food feel approachable, nourishing, and doable in everyday Aussie kitchens. I share tips, shortcuts, and fresh ideas to help you cook confidently with Indian spices and ingredients — without spending hours in the kitchen.
This refreshed menu series brings together cosy comfort bowls, crispy snacks, and regional favourites — all vegetarian, all full of flavour. Each class focuses on a seasonal shared plates menu.
Choose your menu from the following four options:
1. Dosa & More: South Indian Cook-Up
Explore the versatility of South Indian cooking using ready-to-use dosa batter — easy, flavourful, and fun to master.
  • Make your own crispy dosas with a classic spiced potato filling
  • Whip up two vibrant chutneys — a mint, coriander, coconut chutney and a tomato or peanut version
  • Try your hand at appe – soft, savoury bites cooked in a special pan and served with dry chutney
  • Create mini uttapams – thick pancakes topped with onions, herbs, and other toppings from the same batter
  • A great intro to gluten-free, plant-based cooking with minimal effort and maximum flavour
2. Warm Hug in a Bowl: Idli, Sambar & Chutney
A comforting menu that brings together the softness of idlis with the warmth of a spiced lentil-vegetable stew.
  • Learn to steam soft, fluffy idlis using ready-to-use fermented batter
  • Make a nourishing, flavour-packed sambar (South Indian dal) with seasonal vegetables and warming spices
  • Prepare fresh chutneys to balance the richness of the sambar
  • Use leftover idlis to make mini fried idlis — crisp, golden bites that are perfect with chutney
  • Cook appe using the same batter and serve with dry chutney
  • Ideal for cooler evenings or anyone craving a wholesome, vegetarian one-bowl meal
3. Mumbai Comfort Bowls
A bold, satisfying menu that celebrates the richness of Mumbai’s street food scene.
  • Choose 2 mains from:
    • Pav Bhaji – buttery vegetable mash served with toasted buns
    • Misal – sprouted bean curry with crunchy toppings and onion salsa
    • Ragda Pattice – potato patties topped with spiced white pea curry, chutneys, and sev
  • Pair your mains with a classic snack like onion pakoras, oven-baked dhokla, or puff pastry samosas
  • Learn how to layer flavour, spice, and texture into every bite
4. Sliders & Canapés: Indian Street Eats Remix
Create a fun, flavour-packed platter of vegetarian Indian snacks, perfect for entertaining.
  • Choose any 3 from:
    • Vada Pav – spicy potato fritter slider with chutneys
    • Kacchi Dabeli – sweet, spicy peanut-potato slider with pomegranate and onion
    • Puff pastry samosas – flaky and filled with spiced potato and peas
    • Crispy pakoras – air-fried onion or veggie fritters
    • Dhokla – oven-baked, tangy chickpea flour cake
  • Learn to plate and pair these snacks with chutneys and garnishes to turn them into a shareable feast

Growing up in India, I initially had reservations about cooking, viewing it as tied to traditional gender roles. However, surrounded by the rich flavours and vibrant colours of Indian cuisine, I developed a love for cooking and sharing meals, inspired by my Mum's recipes and her emphasis on incorporating more vegetables into traditional recipes, instilling in me a deep appreciation for wholesome, nutritious food.
While my roots lie in traditional Indian cooking, my culinary journey expanded when I relocated to Australia 15 years ago. Exposed to a melting pot of cuisines, I found inspiration in blending traditional recipes with modern influences. Whether it's crafting comforting one-pot wonders like dal soup or experimenting with innovative twists on classic dishes like air-fried pakoras, and puff pastry samosa, cooking became my creative outlet and a way to express my rebellious spirit.
My approach to cooking values simplicity, practicality, and creativity, prioritising the use of fresh, seasonal produce while also embracing the convenience of store-bought ingredients to sustain a demanding lifestyle. I strive to strike a balance, ensuring that my dishes are not only delicious and healthy but also simple to put together.
I am here not just to share the recipes; but equally want to help foster a community of passionate, intuitive cooks, infusing spices in their day to day and promoting mindful eating practices.
Beyond the kitchen, I lead an active lifestyle, work full time and find myself to be very fortunate to be able to live in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Having met my husband in Sydney, we bonded over our love for food, wine, running, cycling, camping, traveling and reading. With the support of my Australian family and friends, many of whom have been my enthusiastic guinea pigs turned cheerleaders, I'm excited to share my passion for Indian plant based cuisine with the world.
