What you'll do
Looking forward to the spring racing season? Celebrate the day by making a colourful bespoke headpiece at a millinery class at Ashburton Community Centre!
In this class, you will create a basic headpiece, or work your magic to create a standout piece. This is not a kit-based class, there will be a range of supplies for you to choose from to make something truly individual. The choice is yours!
Your expert tutor, Kathryn Campbell from Hats Off Handmade Headwear, will provide an understanding of the materials involved, and provide options for creating a wearable headpiece.
With some basic hand sewing and finishing techniques are required, Kathryn will guide you step-by-step through the making process to help achieve your vision.
While all materials are supplied, attendees are welcome to bring along materials of their own, perhaps a sentimental brooch, family piece of costume jewellery piece or other items that they may wish to incorporate into their final design.
At the end, you will have created your standout headpiece to wear on the race day!
Class is limited to 10 people.

What to bring
You are encouraged to bring a basic sewing kit, if you have one, especially if you have a thimble. An apron (in case you are working with glue) and a face washer (to wipe/clean hands if needed).
