Makers take raw materials and transform them into objects of desire. It is an art form, it is a craft, and it can be learned!
Come and experience a workshop with Masterful Makers. In as little as two hours you can walk out with a piece of handmade jewellery, leather bag, stunning knotted mala or your own personalised skincare products. All designed and crafted by you!
Let me introduce myself, I am Victoria White, a one-woman dynamo/mad scientist/designer and maker of crafts. I am the owner of Masterful Makers and offer boutique workshops from my studio.
My love for art, the history of man and pretty shiny things came together while being pregnant with my daughter and working for the Museum of African American Art in Florida. I fell in love with African trade beads. They were historical in context and heavy with human drama. They were an artefact, an antique and pretty. Pairing the few trade beads I had with semi-precious stones and sterling silver wire I began to make my first wrapped earrings.
It was very therapeutic and relaxing until my husband (at the time) saw the box of earrings I had made and took them to work. He returned that afternoon and presented me with a box of money, after having sold them all to his work colleagues! And that is how all this madness began.
That was a bit over 25 years ago. And here we are now!
I have my BA in art history and a Diploma in Visual Arts and Silversmithing.
I use my workshops to pass on my skills and knowledge so that you too will see just how enjoyable being a Maker can be. Coming away with personally designed and created pieces.
I am Victoria White and Making is my passion, let me make it yours as well.

Class was interesting, learning to make candles in a simple way.
Had fun learning, and the dog was a bonus.
Thanks!

Major disappointment and false advertising.
It's taken me some time to write this, to reflect and research to be be fair, and get over the shock.
This 2.5hour "course" (8pm to 10.30pm) fell short in all manners of expectations.
It was a 20 minute activity, which was only drawn out to 9.30 pm by us watching the teacher manically prepare as we arrived, and engaging her in conversation through a, series of questions about her, her art her life.
The candle bit, focus of our 170$ "course" (reduced to a still exorbitant $120, - thanks to NSW 50 voucher) consisted of:
-10min supervision of melting 2x 180g of soy wax chips scented with a tablespoon of essence
-sticking a prefabricated 2x mesh to the base of 2x prebought coloured glass moulds
-5 second hot wax pour into each mould
And that's it.
We had to do another trip the next day back to the city to collect our chilled and set candles.
The advert stated making a 3xweek 800g candle, with another smaller bonus candle.
Not true.
We got two make 2x small 180g single wick candles.
No learning of making wicks, shapes, or much else.
Calling this à course is a far stretch of the imagination.
Its a workshop (activity) not with more than 45mins to include chit chat, and a max fee of 60$

I loved this class! Victoria was an exceptional entertainer and clearly knew all the ins and outs of candle making. We learned how to make the candles of course but the really useful things we learnt were what not to do when trying it out at home. The experience was fab, bonus points for meeting Tiara, the workshop pug.

I loved this experience with Victoria. Victoria is so down to earth, caring, and friendly. Although I did drop the meat thermometer in the lovely hot wax once - by accident; Victoria remained cool, calm and collected. Overall we had a great time, and built great rapport. The fragrances used are extensive, yet so fun to sniff out. Victoria is so knowledgeable when it comes to all aspects of candle making; as well as helping me apply the practical side. I believe I am now confident when it comes to the steps on making quality soy blends, and where to source the goods. Time with Victoria flew quickly, and I am looking forward to collecting my three candles next week. I made two 275 gram candles, and one 315 gram candle off hand. A great hobby turned business opportunity doing something I enjoy. Victoria is just wonderful. Highly recommend, thank you so much.
