What you'll do
Join in a fun experimental drawing class in Sydney as kids learn to observe nature and draw by using their senses!
This full-day class, which is suitable for kids from six to 12-years-old, will begin with a visualisation to help connect with your inner self. Kids will gain an introduction to expressive and experimental drawing throughout the class. They will learn to observe and draw by using their senses – sight, touch and sound.
Grounded in mindfulness, each mark-making exercise teaches the value of ‘in-the-moment’ experience rather than an outcome-based approach. Inspired by movement, sounds, texture and the colours of nature, you will discover how drawing and music can be used to express, connect and relate with nature. Kids will be challenged to let go of judgement and control in order to embrace curiosity and play.
During the class, you will learn:
- Blind contour drawing
- Frottage technique
- Collage
- Concertina bookmaking
Everyone will create a handmade artist book which showcases your drawing experiments from the day and take this book home.
