This workshop is ideal for parents and their children or NDIS groups to learn some new skills together and bond with our friendly ponies.
You will be welcomed by your guide, Karri, a horse trainer, pony lover, and local resident, at the Galston Rural Sports Facility. Here, you will be introduced to our small team of ponies and learn how to safely befriend these beautiful animals through patience, kindness, and empathy. We will begin by grooming and brushing them.
You will be shown safe pony handling skills to assist your child in an enclosed space, as well as how to lead the ponies around a simple horse agility course, making patterns to improve coordination and planning-ahead skills. The ponies will even show you some tricks! The activities will vary based on the group's needs and abilities. We will then feed and water the ponies before saying goodbye.
There will be plenty of opportunity for photos.
Our ponies all have different personalities, opinions, and ideas of their own, just like people do! This workshop provides an enjoyable and educational experience where you will gain newfound self-awareness through insightful interactions with our ponies.
We look forward to your company! Private bookings are welcome and are available most days of the week.
Please note:
  • Minimum age is 7. Each child under 13 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Additional children over 13 years of age may also attend.
  • Contact us if you wish to accommodate younger children in a private booking. This workshop is not suitable for toddlers.
  • Our ponies are our cherished companions. They want to be treated with compassion and kindness at all times. This workshop does not include any riding.
  • Our activities are completely outdoors. We will go ahead in a sprinkle of rain, but adverse weather (such as storms, steady rain, or excessive heat) will force us to postpone.
  • Our venue has ample parking, wheelchair-accessible restrooms, and a small undercover area.
  • Our ponies may at first be wary of unusual wheelchairs or other walking aids. We will introduce them patiently and quietly to ensure that everyone feels safe and comfortable. Our group activities will vary based on the needs and abilities of our group to ensure everyone is included.

Please note: Public dates for this class require at least 2 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we may cancel the session; if that happens, we'll inform you and let you choose between a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class.
