Puppet Making Course and Show for Kids

In this fun and engaging course, kids will work on creating a production of their puppet show.

Over eight sessions, we will teach story conception, how to make puppets and rehearse the show. The workshop will end with the participants doing a live performance for their family and friends!

Through this course, kids will learn to hone the following:

• Listening skills
• Ability to work in a group
• Creative art-making
• Dialogue formation and performance skills

Course outline:

• Session 1: Meet and greet and brainstorm - In this session, after a brief introduction activity, kids will be introduced to brainstorming the storyboard. Sessions will involve selecting the materials required and getting started on making the puppets.
• Session 2: Concept refining - In this session, after a brief check-in activity, kids will work on completing the puppets and start conceptualising the mood, theme and set design.
• Session 3: Story writing - In this session, following a check-in activity, kids will complete the set design and will be introduced to dialogue creation. Information will be sent to parents to nominate a date/time of the play (either on the final week of the session or week after).
• Sessions 4 and 5: Following a brief check-in activity, kids will start work on rehearsing the scenes, dialogue delivery, placement of characters. The skit will be developed for a short play performance.
• Sessions 6 and 7: Kids will work on refining the scenes and rehearsing the play. In all these sessions, improv activities like voice modulation - hand co-ordination, scene placement will be taught. The invitation will be hand made by kids in week 6 to be sent home.
• Session 8: Final rehearsal and set placement will be held this week!

The final play will be held on a separate day in the venue or alternate venue, depending on the enrolment's response and size.

Please note:

• Our kid's workshops are eligible for Creative Kids vouchers.
• The class can be held with a minimum of three enrolments.

Suitable for beginners.
  Kids will learn how to create sock puppet characters, create a puppet stage, write a storyline, rehearse their performance skills and perform in front of a live audience. They will get to take their puppets after the show.
  A light snack and bottle of water.
 

This class series runs over 8 consecutive sessions, at the same time every week.
