Join us at Owl & Lion Bindery for an exclusive Sewn-Board Binding Workshop, specially designed for sketchbook enthusiasts! Discover the innovative sewn-board binding technique—perfect for crafting contemporary sketchbooks that offer exceptional flexibility and a clean, seamless finish.
In this workshop, you'll explore the art of sewn-board binding, a relatively modern structure that allows books to open effortlessly along a lined spine. You’ll learn how to integrate the cover directly with the text block, resulting in a sleek and beautifully functional sketchbook with a distinct, contemporary feel.
Using two contrasting specialty book cloths, you’ll create a luxurious cover for a watercolour paper book block (160gsm to 300gsm). We’ll use the drummed technique, which ensures a flawless, smooth finish with no visible joint between the cover and pages. The result? A sketchbook with both elegance and durability: ready to withstand your creative adventures.
