Sciren offers science-based workshops by teaching science 'secretly' while we craft and chat. We want everyone to understand science, sometimes the science needs translating. We use craft and hands-on workshops to help you learn.

As a plant biotechnologist, I've gone through the education system to find I needed better ways to learn. I kept seeing crafty hobbies as distractions to my learning. Until I realised they were the perfect vehicle to my learning. Making jam - learn about plant cell walls and pectin. Making a terrarium - learn about greenhouse food production and climate change... it's so much more fun being immersed in learning this way!

We'll help you understand the world we live in by using our passion and knowledge, while we chat and have fun.

Thank you! We had a wonderful time making terrariums in the beautiful grounds of Waite campus. Very fun and informative workshop.

Easy to find as I'm from the other side of town. Bianca's manner was both cheerful, informative and fun. The class was also knowledgeable on many levels, so it wasn't just putting plants in a container and not learning anything about the plants, ecosystem, and environment and environmental knowledge about sustainability. Loved my plants and the items to construct my Terrarium. Many thanks Bianca. Looking forward to my next Class in July making a Kokedama. Back to Class Bento to look for more things to do.
