What you'll do

Do you know your personal space? Are you aware of your physicality and how it imprints on the space around you? Did you know body language amounts to almost 70% of all communication?

Yes, it’s all about space! Inner space, outer space, public and private, physical and intellectual, and we shall explore them all. Using the method of Jacques Lecoq a French actor, mime and acting instructor we will embark on an extraordinary journey.

Employing lots of challenging and fun games such as space jump, mask work, and more we will create and manipulate reality. And in the process, we learn how to stand up to tall, how to project positivity, exhibit leadership and how to beam with confidence.

This workshop encourages students to be in tune and work as an ensemble and the importance of saying ‘yes’ in play.

The workshop includes:

Character development
Creation of dramatic space
The language of space
Observation
The seven levels of tension
Body language and our interpretation of it

We look at how space affects us as beings and how it dictates the course of our history, how it moves us.

This workshop will reveal what is not instantly discernible - another dimension. It is an abstract dimension contained deep inside us.

We will begin by identifying common experiences. The goal is to reveal how things function the way they are meant to. This will allow us to explore all imaginable “dis-functions” that create laughter.

The workshop will embolden students to think about the world around them and how elements, materials, shapes, textures, sounds, and colours can help us create a more vivid and truthful life experience.

By the end of the day, we will have created a fresh fun performance art.

Zuzi studied at the University of Western Sydney – Nepean (Theatre) and at the University of Technology – Sydney (Communication – directing and scriptwriting). Zuzi’s worked as an actor, director, scriptwriter, drama teacher, life coach, communication and public speaking tutor, community facilitator, radio/TV host as well as a stunt performer. Highlights include performing Moliere at the Belvoir, acting with David Ritchie in Place with the Pigs, playing Tiger Lily at Capitol Theatre, performing stunts on the Superman movie, Home & Away, Sea Patrol, All Saints and working for the Universal Studios. For over ten years Zuzi has worked with children, young adults and adults encouraging their creativity, developing confidence and providing essential life skills.
