  • 5/5 from Thom Wyatt, attended Jul 2026: Wendy was very welcoming and keen to tailor the class for me. We learnt about tone, colour and composition over 7 pieces with a nice mixture of freedom and guidance. I really enjoyed the space to play and be creative and also to understand some of the nuance of abstract painting.
  • 5/5 from Jan Murphy, attended Apr 2026: Just a great lively morning with Wendy. I learnt some new techniques and came away with ideas for a much larger painting. Generous with her time and materials.
  • 5/5 from Louise Rogers, attended Jan 2026: I loved the class. Wendy is enthusiastic and knowledgeable, with the right mix of demonstration and leaving you to self expression. The pace was relaxed yet continuous, allowing me to complete a number of paintings. She asked for my opinions and gave good feedback and praise. Thank you
  • 4/5 from Parag Bhatia, attended Oct 2025: Wendy is great with her painting stuff. As a novice, I learened heaps about painting with hands on. Wendy answered all my queries. She is very kind and helpful. I would definately recommend her.
  • 5/5 from Maryam Nesvaderani, attended Jul 2025: Wendy was a great teacher, very knowledgeable and encouraging. A fun class!
  • 5/5 from Toni Phillips, attended Jun 2025: This was an intimate and fun Class with the lovely Wendy. This was the first abstract art class I have ever been too. Thinking I would get to to one painting and was amazed that there were eight in the end of a two hour class. The freedom of no rules apply was uplifting for me. I learned about shape, colour, mark making, viewer interest and more. Much needed therapy. Thanks Wendy!
  • 4/5 from Sk Leong, attended Jun 2025: Wendy is a knowledgable and patient teacher, I enjoyed her abstract painting class and amazed how easy it was to draw like a child and yet produced art pieces. I love it!

Hi, I’m Wendy Fay Cohen – abstract artist, teacher, and creative guide.
My journey into art started from a deep yearning to express the unspoken – a need to explore feeling, movement, and inner truth through colour, texture, and form. Though I’ve always had a creative spirit, it wasn’t until a pivotal point in my adult life that I fully committed to painting. Art became my sanctuary, my form of meditation, and a way of connecting with others beyond words.
I work primarily in abstract expressionism because it gives me the freedom to explore intuition, emotion, and spontaneity. Each brushstroke is a conversation with the canvas – a chance to tap into something both personal and universal. What fuels my passion is the transformative power of art: not just for me, but for those I teach.
Why do I love teaching? Because it lights me up.
There’s nothing quite like watching someone reconnect with their creative self – especially if they thought they “weren’t artistic” or hadn’t picked up a brush in years. My teaching style is encouraging, intuitive, and grounded in years of experience. I focus on process, not perfection. Whether I’m guiding a total beginner or an experienced painter wanting to loosen up, I help people find freedom in their mark-making and confidence in their unique voice.
A few things you might not know about me or my work:
I’ve been painting professionally for over 20 years and have exhibited in over 50 solo and group shows across Australia.
My work has been collected nationally and internationally, and I’ve been featured in publications such as Art/Edit and Inside Interior.
I hold a Diploma in Fine Arts and am constantly deepening my practice through workshops, residencies, and collaboration.
I’ve taught hundreds of students – from intimate studio workshops to corporate team-building sessions – and have facilitated art sessions for community programs, schools, and retreat spaces.
I believe art is for everyone. My classes are inclusive, nurturing, and focused on helping people trust their instincts.
When I’m not in the studio or teaching, you’ll find me walking in nature, gathering inspiration from textures, patterns, and the ever-changing light. Creativity is more than a career for me – it’s a way of life, and I feel incredibly lucky to share it with others.
Let’s paint together – and see where your creativity can take you.
