Join Sydney Kalari for a transformative morning session in the hidden sanctuary of Bhoomi Thira Park, Earlwood. This is not just a workout; it is an immersion into the warrior traditions of ancient India.
What You Will Experience:
  • The Awakening (Meipayattu): We begin with dynamic, animal-inspired flows—movements of the Lion, Elephant, and Snake—to open the hips, align the spine, and clear the mind.
  • The Mace (Mudgar & Gadha): Learn to wield the heavy wooden Indian Mace. This ancient tool builds "bulletproof" shoulders, an iron grip, and deep core stability. It is a practice of rhythm, breath, and focus.
  • The Warrior's Flow: We conclude with stick-fighting drills that sharpen your coordination and reflexes.
This session is perfect for beginners, fitness enthusiasts, and anyone looking to break free from the routine. You will leave feeling grounded, powerful, and ready to own your day.
Location:
Bhoomi Thira Park, Earlwood, NSW. (Meet at the grassy area near the entrance).

Hi, I’m Velutha. My journey into the world of Kalaripayattu—the world’s oldest martial art—began in the red earth training pits of Kerala, India, when I was just seven years old. What started as a childhood discipline became a lifelong obsession with understanding the connection between the body, the breath, and the mind.
Why I am passionate & how I started While my roots are in the traditional lineage of Kerala, my career has taken me to the high-pressure corporate hubs of London, New York, and now Sydney. Working as a strategist in the energy sector, I realized that the ancient "warrior codes" I learned as a child weren't just for fighting—they were the ultimate tools for modern mental resilience. I became passionate about bridging these two worlds: bringing ancient Indian wisdom to high-performing modern professionals.
Why I love teaching I love teaching because I get to watch people rediscover their own strength. There is a specific moment in my workshops—usually when a student first swings the Hanuman Gadha (Indian Mace) or flows into a rhythmic animal stance—where their face changes. The stress of the city drops away, and they feel powerful and grounded. That transformation is why I do this.
My Experience & "Bragging Rights" I am not just a local trainer; I am a global practitioner. Over the years, I have had the privilege of teaching Kalaripayattu techniques to diverse groups across three continents—from artists in London to executives in New York and now the community here in Sydney. My background allows me to teach this complex art in a way that is accessible, safe, and deeply relevant to western lifestyles.
Something special/interesting Most people don't know that Kalaripayattu is considered the "Mother of all Martial Arts"—legend has it that Bodhidharma took these techniques from India to China to form the basis of Shaolin Kung Fu!
Also, my workshops aren't just about sweat; they are about flow. I’m a passionate surfer, and I bring that same philosophy of fluid power and connection with nature into our sessions at Earlwood. Whether you are holding a heavy wooden mace or moving like a lion, my goal is to help you find your "flow state."
