What you'll do

In this private art class, you will learn techniques and make your own mixed media masterpiece.

In these one-on-one classes, I will be able to work intensively with you toward your artistic goals. You can choose between making a Mixed Media piece, from a gallery of references, or you can bring your own reference and we can work together to create it.

For example, "I want to make a mixed media artwork of my Cat". Okay! Bring a photo of your cat, and we will make this together, or "I want to create a picture of a Garden." Okay! we will find a beautiful reference picture and make this.

I will teach you how to see things differently, so you can do rather than can't do or don't know how to do.

The other option for this class, if you are a more experienced artist, Is spending the time learning my portrait techniques. I have a unique facial portrait style, formed through years of drawing, painting and also working in the tattoo industry. I can teach you to develop your own style and show you the shortcuts that I have learned.

You do not need to bring anything. All materials are supplied.

A lot of what I have learned over the years I have recently been passing on, through my role as an art group facilitator at a high school, and in my role as a youth worker. I would love to share some of my knowledge with you.

My name is Ally Jade and I am an established mixed media artist, living in Sydney's vibrant Inner West.

I teach art part-time at a high school, and I have had several exhibitions, including at State Parliament House. My style could be described as portraiture with a street art influence. I love to incorporate poetry and words into the artwork, to create a multilayered story.

I have a unique, self-developed style and a strong focus on helping students connect to their inner creativity and self-expression. I believe we are all innately creative, and we all have an artist within.

My students have a lot of fun, creating using mixed media materials, paint, collage and can also learn how to create their own cradled wood panels, which can be a great alternative to mounted canvas.
