Join us for a relaxing oil painting workshop inspired by the cascading beauty of Nigretta Falls, a striking multi-stream waterfall set within the volcanic plains of western Victoria. This will be a safe, solvent-free oil painting class as we will use professional water-mixable oils of the Winsor & Newton Artisan line, allowing full oil richness and blending power while avoiding harsh solvents, perfect for studio or shared spaces. Guided by our experienced instructor, you’ll follow step-by-step demonstrations to explore how to capture the dramatic fall of water as it tumbles over ancient rhyolitic rock ledges into the Wannon River valley, surrounded by tranquil bushland and natural ambience.During the workshop, you’ll learn warm underpainting and alla prima techniques, beginning with a warm tonal base and working wet-on-wet to capture mood and light. You’ll simplify composition by breaking down water, rocks, foliage, and reflections into clear shapes and tonal blocks for stronger structure. You’ll also learn to mix colours for water, rock surfaces, and bushland atmosphere while using contrast to define solid and flowing elements.
