It started when I was 13, flicking through a photography magazine and stopping dead at an Ansel Adams cover. Something about that image just hit me, I didn't have the words for it then, but I knew I wanted to make pictures like that. I took my first formal course at TAFE at 16, went back for a few more over the years, and eventually completed a Diploma of Photography and Visual Arts. That's over 40 years of obsession, and it hasn't let up.
My commercial practice has taken me across Western Sydney for nearly 20 years, photographing mayors and executive teams, small business owners and tradespeople, in boardrooms and on building sites. I've shot for clients including Sydney Water and Penrith City Council, where I've worked with the Executive Leadership Team, Heads of Department, and the Mayor of Penrith, Todd Carney.
Teaching was something I came to more recently, and honestly it surprised me how much I love it. There's this moment that happens in workshops. You've gone over something with a student, they wander off and try it, and then they come back and show you a shot and ask, "like this?" and it's just yes. Exactly like that. That moment makes everything worth it.
These workshops are for anyone who wants to shoot with more intention, whether you're picking up a camera for the first time or you've been at it for years and want to sharpen your eye. You'll learn to read light, recognise the moments worth capturing, and make photographs that feel honest and deliberate.
