What you'll do
A bespoke lampshade has the unique ability to change the mood of a room in an instant. Learn how to create yours at this lampshade making class in Jannali.
With all base materials supplied and under the guided tutelage of Deb from Stalia Design, you will learn all the skills necessary to make a drum lampshade. This is a beginner-friendly workshop so don't worry if you're new to this!
All you need to bring is your choice of fabric (70cm x 30cm)—if the fabric has a directional print, 30cm is the height (pattern will be vertical across the 30cm).
When selecting fabric, keep in mind that natural fibres with a tight weave and a medium weight are optimal. If the fabric is too fine, it is hard to keep smooth; too heavy, and it is hard to get a neat turned finish. Additional lampshade kits are also available to purchase on the day.
Class sizes are kept small to ensure plenty of individual assistance.
This class is great for individuals and couples. Private group bookings are also available on request.

Hi I'm Deb, Owner, Designer and Maker from Stalia Design.
Coming from a long family history of creativity it's no surprise I started working for a sewing machine company at age 20, then at 24 I opened my own sewing shop.
A few years later I thought I would give the corporate world a try and got stuck there for almost 20 years (all the while making clothes and costumes for my children) until a chronic illness diagnosis rescued me!
Completing my Cert IV in Design and a Diploma in Surface Design rekindled my creative spark and I now offer you the opportunity to create beautiful, mindful pieces. With a focus on sustainability and repurposing reclaimed textiles.
Workshops are run in our private space in Jannali and I also run private in-person workshops for hen's and bridal shower, birthday parties and team building.
I look forward to helping you create your very own masterpiece.
