Beginner's Pottery Wheel Course with Wheelfulness

Mindful Journey from Shaping to Glazing

7 x 1.5 hours Class size 1 to 4 guests

$490 (Afterpay & PayPal Pay in 4 available)

This beginner-friendly course offers a mindful introduction to the pottery wheel and invites you to experience Wheelfulness. Through the Wheelfulness approach, the wheel is not only used for shaping clay, but also for cultivating somatic mindfulness. This course is capped at four participants, ensuring plenty of individual support and a calm atmosphere.
Shaping: You will learn foundational wheel-throwing techniques and will experiment with shaping the clay into different forms. Through the Wheelfulness approach, attention is given not only to technique, but also to cultivating mindfulness, presence, and a felt sense of inner stillness while working at the wheel.
Glazing: You’ll learn both predictable approaches to applying underglazes, as well as more adventurous methods such as layering glazes to create variegated surfaces. You can choose from a wide range of colourful underglazes and food-safe studio glazes to add the finishing touches to your pots.
Glazing and kiln-firing are included in your booking fee.

I'm a somatic clay therapist offering mindfulness-based pottery classes and one-on-one therapy sessions in a calm and welcoming studio.
Before finding my way to clay, I spent several years in academia, completing a PhD in psychology and teaching at university. I began working with clay as a hobby, and over time, what started as a personal mindfulness practice evolved into a professional calling, leading me to train as a Clay Field® therapist.
I started Wheelfulness in 2019, and since then it has become known for its personalised approach that cultivates somatic mindfulness at the pottery wheel. Now, from my new studio in Matraville, I continue to offer small-group pottery classes alongside one-on-one clay therapy sessions.
